Three days ago, all Maisy Norgate had was a stack of bills, about a gazillion jobs, and her sunny-as-hell outlook. Now, thanks to an uncle she never knew about, she's inherited an ornate skeleton key with absolutely no idea what it's for—or why she has it. Which is exactly when a ridiculously handsome guy claiming to be an angel shows up at her door and all hell breaks loose . . .

Nephilim Rhys Boyce cannot believe that Maisy is the new Keeper of the Key. Why would anyone bequeath this warm, bubbly redhead the key to Hell? And to make matters worse, she's given the key to the first person who asked for it. A demon. Yep, Maisy is determined to make his job—not to mention some seriously inconvenient temptation—as hard as possible.

First a half angel with a very human chip on his shoulder must find a way to convince Maisy that angels and demons do exist. Then Rhys will have to break the really bad news . . . that she might have accidentally ended the world.

This was fun! Maisy inherits a key from an uncle that she didn’t even know that she had and a whole new world opens up to her. That key that Maisy inherited isn’t just a regular key since it is the key to Hell and she gave it away without knowing the power behind it. Rhys is a Nephilim, which means that he is half angel, and he will do everything to protect Maisy and help her get the key back.

I loved Rhys and Maisy together and thought that the story had enough excitement to keep things very interesting. I thought that Maisy’s backstory was really interesting and I enjoyed learning about some of the things that happened to her in her past. I thought that Rhys and his friends were great and I really enjoyed seeing them work together and use their abilities. Rhys and Maisy were a good fit and I thought that the chemistry between them was very well-done.

I believe that this is the first time that I have listened to the work of both Quinn Riley and Griswold Addams but I thought that they did a great job with this story. I liked the voices that they used in their reading and I thought that they expressed a lot of emotion in their reading. I thought that their voices complimented each other nicely and I had no problem listening to this book for hours at a time.

I would recommend this book to others. I found this to be a very entertaining story filled with fantastic characters, a lot of excitement, some romance, and a few demons. I look forward to reading more of this series soon!

I received a review copy of this book from Entangled: Amara and borrowed a copy of the audiobook from my local library.

Charley Davidson, Grim Reaper Extraordinaire, is back in this sexy, suspenseful novel of supernatural shenanigans.

When Charley is rudely awakened in the middle of the night by her best friend who tells her to get dressed quickly and tosses clothes out of the closet at her, she can’t help but wonder what Cookie’s up to. Leather scrunch boots with a floral miniskirt? Together? Seriously?

Cookie explains that a friend of hers named Mimi disappeared five days earlier and that she just got a text from her setting up a meet at a coffee shop downtown. They show up at the coffee shop, but no Mimi. But Charley finds a message on the bathroom wall. Mimi left a clue, a woman’s name. Mimi’s husband explains that his wife had been acting strange since she found out an old friend of hers from high school had been found murdered a couple weeks prior. The same woman Mimi had named in her message.

Meanwhile, Reyes Alexander Farrow (otherwise known as the Son of Satan. Yes. Literally) has left his corporeal body and is haunting Charley. He’s left his body because he’s being tortured by demons who want to lure Charley closer. But Reyes can’t let that happen. Because if the demons get to Charley, they’ll have a portal to heaven. And if they have a portal to heaven… well, let’s just say it wouldn’t be pretty. Can Charley handle hot nights with Reyes and even hotter days tracking down a missing woman? Will Cookie ever get a true fashion sense? And is there enough coffee and chocolate in the world to fuel them as they do?

I liked this installment a lot! There were several mysteries that Charley had to deal with in this book and I thought that each of them was incredibly interesting but I have to admit that I may have been slightly more interested in what was going on with Reyes than anything else. The book hits the ground running and as a result, I was hooked by the story right from the start.

Charley is a fantastic character I love watching her learn how to do new things with her abilities. The supporting cast of characters was great and I felt like they added a lot to the story. The story was full of all of the action, excitement, and humor that I hoped for and I think that some of the events in this book will have an impact on future installments in the series.

Lorelei King is one of my favorite narrators and does a fantastic job with this audiobook. I really like the voices that she uses for Charley, Cookie, Reyes, and the rest of the key characters. This book has a lot of humor and I believe that her performance really helps to elevate those moments. I am certain that her narration added to my overall enjoyment of this story.

I would definitely recommend this book to others. I had a great time with this story and found it extremely hard to set aside once I started listening. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!

  1. I’ve seen the Charley Davidson (love that name lol) series around for ages but have never picked it up. I’ve never come across King as a narrator so I’ll be interested to give her a try.
