Miss Julia Beaumont has exactly one night to find herself a husband...

The Weatherford Ball is the last chance Julia Beaumont has to escape the clutches of her horrid stepmother. Any potential husband will do—rich, poor, even a reasonably well-groomed walrus. But all of Julia’s matrimonial chances are completely obliterated...thanks to the actions of an infuriating and utterly rakish duke.

Gregory Carter, Duke of Ashworth, would never risk his cherished bachelorhood by flirting with marriage-starved debutantes. But one look at the luscious and refreshingly clever Julia, and he simply can’t resist a stolen kiss—scandal be damned. Then just as things start getting deliciously interesting, the lady flees...leaving only a slipper behind.

And it must have been one dandy of a kiss. Because now Julia has proposed to him. After all, the lady needs a husband, and this roguish duke will certainly do. It’s simply a matter of making him the perfect scandalous offer...

Why did I add Cinderella and the Duke to my bookshelf?

I received an unsolicited copy of this book from the publisher around 6 months ago. I absolutely love it when a publisher surprises me with a book! I have been trying to fit this one into my reading schedule soon. I recently read another historical and enjoyed it so I hope to revisit the genre soon. This looks like it could be a lot of fun!

I know that I promised to spend some time visiting blogs this week. Unfortunately, my internet is down so I guess life had other plans. Sorry guys!

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it?

  1. I love surprise books as well! Occasionally though, the publisher sends me the wrong genre and I sometimes think…did you see what I review on my blog? Lol. But surprises are the best! Hope you enjoy it once you get to read it! Hope your internet cooperates for you soon too!

  2. I struggle with unsolicited arcs. I know I’m under no obligation since I never requested it, but something in me still nags at me to read and review. Luckily I rarely request/receive arcs anymore so it solves that problem. lol

  3. I agree! Fun when a publisher sends a surprise book to me. Hope its as good as your last venture into historical romance. 🙂 Too bad about the inconvenience of no internet for a bit, but more time for reading, I say. 🙂

  4. A surprise book is always fun. Historical romance is a genre I’ve been severely neglecting and I love the sound of this one!

  5. I haven’t read it Carole but it looks good so I hope you enjoy it when you get to it. I’ve been trying to read down my backlist too.
