The National Book Award-winning author of Felix Ever After delivers a beautifully tender story of two grumpy/sunshine, fake-dating actors navigating their love story both on and offscreen—perfect for fans of Casey McQuiston and Alexis Hall.

Logan Gray is Hollywood's bad boy—a talented but troubled actor who the public loves to hate. Mattie Cole is an up‑and‑coming golden boy, adored by all but plagued by insecurities.

When Logan and Mattie are cast as leads in a new romantic film, Logan claims that Matt has “zero talent,” sending the film’s publicity into a nosedive. To create positive buzz, the two are persuaded into a fake‑dating scheme—but as the two actors get to know their new characters, real feelings start to develop.

As public scrutiny intensifies and old wounds resurface, the two must fight for their relationship and their love.
A heartfelt, hopeful, and nuanced story about identity, healing, and growth.

I had a great time with this book! This is the first time that I have read any of Kacen Callendar’s work but it certainly won’t be my last. I fell for these characters pretty quickly and wanted to see good things happen for them. I like the fact that their journey wasn’t always easy since that seemed realistic. I am so glad that I took a chance and picked up this book!

Logan and Mattie were amazing characters and they were both going through a lot. Logan is known as a bad boy whom the public seems to love to hate, while Mattie is known as the golden boy who can do no wrong. When they are cast opposite each other in a new film, there is some tension but the more time they spend together the more they really see each other.

This book handles some tough topics and does it very well. I thought that these characters had wonderful chemistry with each other but they had to do some work on themselves before they were ready for each other. Logan’s story was really quite tragic and it was obvious just how much his past had shaped his life. It was wonderful to see each of these character grow over the course of this story.

I thought that this full-cast audiobook was very well done. I seem to always enjoy it when a book uses a full cast of narrators and some effects to tell the story. It just adds something extra to the experience. I thought that these narrators did a great job of adding just the right amount of emotion to this story. Their performance added to my overall enjoyment of this story.

I would recommend this book to others. I thought that it was a really well-done romance featuring characters that were easy to care about. I would definitely recommend grabbing the audiobook if you get the chance.

I received a review copy of this audiobook from Hachette Audio.
