This comical, fantastical, romantical, New York Times bestselling, (not) entirely true story of Lady Jane Grey is “an uproarious historical fantasy that’s not to be missed” (Publishers Weekly, starred review).
In My Lady Jane, coauthors Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows have created a one-of-a-kind YA fantasy in the tradition of The Princess Bride, featuring a reluctant king, an even more reluctant queen, a noble steed, and only a passing resemblance to actual history—because sometimes history needs a little help.
At sixteen, Lady Jane Grey is about to be married off to a stranger and caught up in a conspiracy to rob her cousin, King Edward, of his throne. But those trifling problems aren’t for Jane to worry about. Jane gets to be Queen of England.
Like that could go wrong.
And don't miss the authors' next fun read, My Plain Jane!
Why did I add My Lady Jane to my bookshelf?
I have had this audiobook in my digital library for 7 years. 7 years! And it just sits there unread. I am a mess. I think the story sounds good and I just found out that there will be a television series that will begin airing in about a month, so this would be the perfect time to give it a try. It seems that all of my Goodreads friends that read this book enjoyed it so it seems like it will probably be a safe bet.
What are your thoughts? Have you read this book? Would you recommend it?
I remember hearing about this book but never read it myself. I also heard about the show that’s coming! Even when I don’t care for the books that’s being adapted I do find myself excited that there’s a TV/movie adaptation coming for my friends who did like it! Lol. Hope you get to read this one soon!
I remember this one being hugely popular when it released several years ago. I hadn’t heard about the TV adaptation. There’s an incentive to get to listening!
I don’t know this one. I am sure I have books that are even 10 years old.
This book was so much fun! I loved the alternate history stuff too. Hope you like it!
Oh right, I saw a trailer of that
I had my eye on this and their subsequent books and just never picked it up. I think you’d love it, too, Carole. 🙂
I haven’t read this one.
I have this on my TBR but don’t have a physical copy. I hope you read this soon and let me know how it is!
