It’s Tuesday!  That means it is time to make a little bit of room on the bookshelves, load up your ereader, or make your way to your local library.  In other words – It is time to get your hands on a new book!
Here are just a few books that have just been released that you may want to grab soon:

Aftermath by Kelley Armstrong

Three years after losing her brother Luka in a school shooting, Skye Gilchrist is moving home. But there’s no sympathy for Skye and her family because Luka wasn’t a victim; he was a shooter.

Jesse Mandal knows all too well that the scars of the past don’t heal easily. The shooting cost Jesse his brother and his best friend–Skye.

Ripped apart by tragedy, Jesse and Skye can’t resist reopening the mysteries of their past. But old wounds hide darker secrets. And the closer Skye and Jesse get to the truth of what happened that day, the closer they get to a new killer.

Marek by Sawyer Bennett

When the Carolina Cold Fury’s hottest young star gets blindsided by an ex with a scandalous secret, it’s game on.

“One of the best voices in contemporary romance.”—New York Times bestselling author Lauren Layne

Marek Fabritis is used to delivering blows, not receiving them. But when he gets tipped off by an anonymous email about his ex-girlfriend, the news leaves him ice cold—and it’s not because Gracen Moore is getting married to a total jerk. It’s the fact that Marek has a three-year-old daughter he never knew about. Now he’s going back home, not to play knight in shining armor but to make damn sure that no man takes what’s his. For the first time, there might be something more important than hockey.

Gracen Moore has always loved Marek. That’s why she let him go, so he could pursue a career in the NHL. And that’s why she never told him about Lilly. Only now does Gracen realize that she made an unforgivable mistake. But is that any reason for Marek to crash her wedding and make an epic scene? If the spark that still smolders between them is to be trusted, maybe. Still, Gracen’s not getting her hopes up. Because she knows better than anyone that appearances aren’t always what they seem. . . .

The Outsider by Stephen King

An unspeakable crime. A confounding investigation. At a time when the King brand has never been stronger, he has delivered one of his most unsettling and compulsively readable stories.

An eleven-year-old boy’s violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City’s most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

As the investigation expands and horrifying answers begin to emerge, King’s propulsive story kicks into high gear, generating strong tension and almost unbearable suspense. Terry Maitland seems like a nice guy, but is he wearing another face? When the answer comes, it will shock you as only Stephen King can.

All the Ever Afters: The Untold Story of Cinderella’s Stepmother by Danielle Teller

In the vein of Wicked, The Woodcutter, and Boy, Snow, Bird, a luminous reimagining of a classic tale, told from the perspective of Agnes, Cinderella’s “evil” stepmother.

We all know the story of Cinderella. Or do we?

As rumors about the cruel upbringing of beautiful newlywed Princess Cinderella roil the kingdom, her stepmother, Agnes, who knows all too well about hardship, privately records the true story. . . .

A peasant born into serfdom, Agnes is separated from her family and forced into servitude as a laundress’s apprentice when she is only ten years old. Using her wits and ingenuity, she escapes her tyrannical matron and makes her way toward a hopeful future. When teenaged Agnes is seduced by an older man and becomes pregnant, she is transformed by love for her child. Once again left penniless, Agnes has no choice but to return to servitude at the manor she thought she had left behind. Her new position is nursemaid to Ella, an otherworldly infant. She struggles to love the child who in time becomes her stepdaughter and, eventually, the celebrated princess who embodies everyone’s unattainable fantasies. The story of their relationship reveals that nothing is what it seems, that beauty is not always desirable, and that love can take on many guises.

Lyrically told, emotionally evocative, and brilliantly perceptive, All the Ever Afters explores the hidden complexities that lie beneath classic tales of good and evil, all the while showing us that how we confront adversity reveals a more profound, and ultimately more important, truth than the ideal of “happily ever after.”

Hot Asset was really good! I would love to pick a copy of Aftemath, it sounds amazing.

  2. I've been seeing Aftermath a lot and it's got really positive reviews. I'll definitely buy it at some point but not immediately. The Outsider is easily on my wishlist but I'll be waiting for the paperback edition maybe next year, haha.
    Have a great week, Carole!

  3. I have started ignoring publication dates, because I am so far behind on my review books, but I did read Noah a while back, and it was fantastic!

  4. Aftermath and The outside (and I still can't believe I'm saying this about a Stephen King book) are two I want to try for sure!

  5. I want to read Aftermath after seeing your review and man, I need a copy of The Outsider NOW! (even though I won't be starting it for some time I'm sure – it's a bookie thing!)

  6. Stephen King is one of my auto buy authors. Some of these others look good too. Off to check out your review of Aftermath. That cover is excellent.

  7. I am definitely looking forward to Aftermath. Thats pretty high on my list to read right now. All The Ever Afters looks to be a good one as well. Stephen King is just an auto buy author for me.

  8. Gah got to read Aftermath and All the Ever Afters. The New Stephen King looks like it be great on audio

  9. Aftermath seems to be everywhere right now! It looks good but the book I really want this week is All the Ever Afters.

  10. I was on the fence about Aftermath until recently! I love the author but thought the subject matter was too relevant to current events. I'm worried it will make the entire thing feel darker and wasn't sure how the information was presented. I've seen a lot of positive reviews for this one, so I've decided to give it a try!

  11. i hope it's nothing like Sleeping Beauty, it was interesting for a Stephen King book, but not scary. Though Ever After seems my type more

  12. The cover for All The Ever Afters is so nice! Everyone has been mentioning that they've been reading The Outsider lately and I didn't realise they meant the new King novel until now!
