Weekly Wrap Up #410

I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

Some weeks my only goal is to keep my head above water. I managed that and little else this past week. My daughter is coming home for a family wedding for a few days so I asked for Saturday off from the bookstore. They gave me the day off but still gave me my regular 3 shifts crammed into the workweek. So Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I left the house at 7:30 am and didn’t return until 10:30 pm. I was so tired on Tuesday and Thursday evenings after work that I was worthless. It is a miracle that I got any reviews written this week.

The next few days will be incredibly busy. We picked my daughter up from the airport around 9 pm Saturday. We will be heading to my mother’s house to have a family breakfast so my family can visit with her. Later Sunday afternoon, we will be at a wedding for our nephew on my husband’s side of the family. We are taking Monday off work to spend time with my daughter before we drop her off at the airport that evening. My husband and I took Tuesday off, originally planning to relax but we have since been talking about getting some work done in the yard. Oh, the joys of home ownership!

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I enjoyed the first book in the Eclipsed Evolution series and jumped right into books 2 and 3 this week. Totality and Emergence by Kim Harrison were both fabulous listens. Each book is pretty short and could have been combined into a single regular-length book. I haven’t finished it as I write this but I am determined to wrap up Leather & Lark by Brynne Weaver before you read this.

I promised to get back to The Night Ends with Fire by K.X. Song last week but it didn’t happen. This will be the week! I have listened to around 2/3 of Sociopath by Patric Gagne, Ph. D., and find it incredibly interesting.

Books Added

Candle & Crow by Kevin Hearne (Publisher); Home Is Where the Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose (Publisher); Lost and Lassoed by Lyla Sage (Publisher)

  1. Oh wow. That just sounds tiring. Hope the wedding goes well today though! Hope you’re able to get some relaxing/resting in the next day or two after today! Even if it’s only for a few minutes!

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

  2. Whew, yeah! I’d be zonked from such a heavy work schedule, too. I’m so glad you get to see your daughter for a bit and way to go finishing a stack of books. Hopefully you can slip in some rest moments in here and there.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  3. Rough schedule. I am glad you could rest on Tuesday and Thursday. I also have the Kim Harrison audios. I loved the first one and will listen to the next two together soon I hope. Have a great weekend and a better week.

  4. Hope you enjoy the time with your daughter. Mr. Barb and I did some yard work this weekend ourselves. He is on vacation all next week while I am at training. I will be home by 5:30ish but the pups are used to having someone around to cater to them all the time and he has tons of vacation time so is staying home. I can’t wait for my Libby hold on the Emily Henry book to come in. Hope you have a great week!
