This week’s neglected book

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

Publication Date: September 3, 2013
Publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers

Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.

One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown is a wholly original story of rage and revenge, of guilt and horror, and of love and loathing from bestselling and acclaimed author Holly Black

Why did I add The Coldest Girl in Coldtown to my bookshelf?
I bought this for my Kindle in November of 2014.  It was on sale for $2.99 and I thought it sounded good.  I still do.  Some of my Goodreads friends really liked, some thought it was okay, and a few were not fans.  I want to really like this one.  Hopefully, I can move this book over to my read column sometime soon!

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it to others?

  1. I haven't read this particular book but I've never been a fan of the author's work in the past! I have heard mixed reviews on this one. I hope you do like it if you decide to read it!

I found this one at the Dollar Tree a while back and it is still sitting on my shelf too. I need to pick up!

  3. I've always meant to read this one too. I have heard mixed opinions though so I think it might have scared me off. I also think I have a copy on my Kindle somewhere.

  4. I have only read Holly Black's childrens Spiderwick series, but I did enjoy those! I think when I try her work more I am going to read her Cruel Prince series to start with though.
