Sometimes I just don’t have a lot to say after finishing a book. I recently finished these 3 books and felt like quick reviews would be the best way to go. All 3 of these books were okay reads for me I didn’t have any strong opinions about any of them.

I received this book for free from the publisher. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I have some pretty mixed feelings about this book. I must say that I enjoyed the first book in this series much more than this one. I really liked some parts of the but was bored or confused during other sections. I liked Jace and Ski and thought that they were great characters with excellent chemistry. I really wish that the focus of the book would have just stayed with them instead of being spread across so many characters. My main issue with this story is that there are just too many characters to keep track of which made the book hard to follow at times. I listened to the audiobook and thought that Johanna Parker did a good job with the story.

I received a digital review copy of this book from Kensington Books and borrowed a copy of the audiobook from my local library.

My feelings are a little mixed with this book. I am kind of disappointed that I didn’t like this book more than I did since the main character has a gift for necromancy. I liked the book for the most part but there were parts that felt really slow and other sections that left me slightly confused. I thought that the overall premise of the story was well done but I wasn’t a huge fan of the dual timelines and was always more interested in the past over the present which was told through a bard. I listened to the audiobook and thought that both Emily Woo Zeller and Will Damron did a great job with the story. I doubt that I will continue with the series.

This was just okay for me. I have had this book for years and started it a few times only to quickly set it aside when it failed to hook me quickly. It did take me a bit to really get into the story and I can’t say that it ever fully grabbed me. I do like the field of finance and must say that this is the first financial thriller that I have ever picked up and I did find the idea behind the story interesting. Evan was incredibly ruthless and not a likable character. It was hard to really connect to the book since I didn’t like most of what the main character was doing. I was not a fan of the way this book ended at all which was disappointing. I decided to listen to the audiobook and thought that Armand Shultz did a great job with the story.

  1. Sometimes a short and quick review is all a book deserves. And sometimes it’s all I feel like writing because I’m too tired to do something more. 😀 I like your title of “quick reviews”; mind if I borrow it sometime?

These did sound like they could be good reads, so I am sorry they didn’t live up to their promise!

  3. Sounds like some decent reads if nothing standout. I haven’t come across two of these but I’ve seen some mixed reviews for The Bone Witch. I’m not sure any of these are for me but glad you for the most part enjoyed them.
