I've battled the Reapers of Chaos before--and survived. But this time I have a Bad, Bad Feeling it's going to be a fight to the death. . .most likely mine.
Yeah, I've got my psychometry magic, my talking sword, Vic, and even the most dangerous Spartan on campus at my side in Logan freaking Quinn, but I'm no match for Loki, the evil Norse god of chaos. I may be Nike's Champion, but at heart, I'm still just Gwen Frost, that weird Gypsy girl everyone at school loves to gossip about.
Then someone I love is put in more danger than ever before, and something inside me snaps. This time, Loki and his Reapers are going down for good . . . or I am.
I thought that this book did a fantastic job of wrapping up an incredibly entertaining series. I have spent the past 5 months working my way through this series and I was eager to see how things would work out. This story had all of the action, excitement, romance, and god/goddess appearances that I hoped to see. I was very satisfied with the way that things worked out.
This book picks up shortly after the events of the previous installment. This is the sixth and final book in the Mythos Academy series which I would recommend reading in order. Gwen is just trying to live a normal life but with Loki on the loose, I knew that things wouldn’t stay calm for long. Loki and the Reapers want an artifact so they are all being moved to Gwen’s school so she can use her magic to figure out which one they are after. When they can’t get the artifact, someone Gwen loves is placed in danger and Gwen will do anything to keep them safe.
This book kept me guessing. I couldn’t wait to see how Gwen would finally take care of Loki and I loved that there were a few surprises along the way. Gwen has grown a lot over the course of this series and I was impressed by how many now look to her as a leader. Her group of friends was amazing in this book and made sure to support her when she needed it most.
Tara Sands has been the voice of this series and has book an amazing job of bringing these characters to life. I love the fact that the character voices have been very consistent throughout the series. I think that she is able to add a lot of excitement and emotion to her reading. I listened to this book for hours at a time and do believe that her narration added to my enjoyment of the story.
I would not hesitate to recommend this book to others. I thought that this was an incredibly well-done series that had me reaching for my headphones time and again. I definitely plan to read more of this talented author’s work soon.
I received a digital review copy of this book from Kensington Books and purchased a copy of the audiobook.
Glad this was such a satisfying end to the series!
I enjoyed these books even with their YA style.
I just looked back at my own review for this book (I read it in 2016). I rated it, same as you, 4/5, and I also felt that a lot of things were tied up nicely. I felt there were more stories to tell since Gwen still had 4 years left at the academy. I’m just saying. Still satisfying.
Sounds like an awesome series! And Loki as the villain too. Fun. 🙂
Oh that sounds really good.
The best thing is when a story keeps you on your feet and you aren’t sure what will happen next. Glad this ended up being such a win for you.
ALways good with some oldies
I love Jennifer Estep, but I haven’t read this series yet.
