Erin Hahn’s Friends Don’t Fall in Love is about long-time friends, taking chances, and finding out that, sometimes, your perfect person was right there in your corner all along.
Lorelai Jones had it all: a thriving country music career and a superstar fiancé. Then she played one teenie tiny protest song at a concert and ruined her entire future, including her impending celebrity marriage. But five years later, she refuses to be done with her dreams and calls up the one person who stuck by her, her dear friend and her former fiancé’s co-writer and bandmate, Craig.
Craig Boseman’s held a torch for Lorelai for years, but even he knows the backup bass player never gets the girl. Things are different now, though. Craig owns his own indie record label and his songwriting career is taking off. If he can confront his past and embrace his gifts, he might just be able to help Lorelai earn the comeback she deserves—and maybe win her heart in the process.
But when the two reunite to rebuild her career and finally scratch that itch that’s been building between them for years, Lorelai realizes a lot about what friends don’t do. For one, friends don’t have scratch-that-itch sex. They also don’t almost-kiss on street corners, publish secret erotic poetry about each other, have counter-top sex, write songs for each other, have no-strings motorcycle sex, or go on dates. And they sure as heck don't fall in love... right?
I loved this book! I have read everything Erin Hahn has written so far, and have really liked every book. If you are a romance reader and have not tried this author yet, do yourself a favor and pick up one of her books. This book is a stand-alone, but we do get the chance to check in on a few characters featured in some of the author’s previous books which I appreciated.
As I worked my way through this book, I just knew that Huck and Lorelei belonged together. They had so much in common, and the chemistry between the pair was palpable. I have to tell you – I was invested in their relationship from the start of the book and couldn’t wait to see them work things out to find their happily ever after. Huck and Lorelei had one night together after her ex dumped her, and then they both went their separate ways, but they haven’t stopped thinking about each other. I loved watching them together, and it was obvious to everyone around that they cared deeply for one another.
I ended up listening to the audiobook of this one (because I am perpetually behind) and am so glad that I did because it was amazing! Kale Williams and Lisa Zimmerman were able to take this story to the next level. I loved the southern drawl they used and thought it fit the characters perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised to find that one of the songs that was a big part of the story is included in the audiobook production. I am positive that this audiobook added to my enjoyment of an already wonderful story.
I would highly recommend this book to others. Erin Hahn is quickly becoming a favorite author. I fell hard for these characters and wanted to see good things happen for both of them. I can’t wait to read more of this author’s work.
I received a digital review copy of this book from St. Martin’s Press.
Glad this was a hit for you. I loved the characters, the romance, the appearances from past couples, but I felt the “drama” portion of the story (country music fans are horrible, guns, etc) took me out of the parts I loved. I will still read more from Hahn in the future.
I’ll check out her books. Nice review. And this one sounds wonderful.
I’ve read her books before and liked it. Looks like I have a new book to add to my TBR. Great review.
I’ve read and loved a book by Hahn as well. I’ll have to add this to the never ending list, lol! I’d go for the audio of course so nice to know the narrators were great!
I have not read this author before, but it sounds like I really need to. Which book of hers is your favorite?
I’ll have to try this author sometime.
This sounds wonderful. Never read the author before, but you have convinced me that I need to rectify that oversight.
Oh this looks so fun! I want to read more of this romcom/women’s fiction genre and I’ve read such good reviews of her books!
SOLD! I haven’t tried Erin Hahn, but I love a friends-to-lovers story and your enthusiasm has won me over. I’m adding it to my library list. Thanks!
