This week’s neglected book

One exceptional boy journeys into the ashes of society to find the cure for a devastating plague in this riveting post-apocalyptic standalone set in the same world as the USA Today-bestselling The Girl With All the Gifts.

Once upon a time, in a land blighted by terror, there was a very clever boy.

The people thought the boy could save them, so they opened their gates and sent him out into the world.

To where the monsters lived.

"Strange and surprising and humane" (Lauren Beukes), The Boy on the Bridge is a gripping, powerful story that will make you question what it means to be human.

Why did I add The Boy on the Bridge to my bookshelf?

I loved The Girl with All the Gifts and have planned to read this book, which is set in the same world, for a long time. If you know me, you know that I love a good zombie story so this is probably a good bet. I really have no excuses for not getting around to this one by now since I have a copy of the audiobook and the hardcover on my shelf. Hopefully, I will end up liking this one just as much as I liked The Girl with All the Gifts.

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it?

  1. Oh wow. I forgot there was a sequel to The Girl with All the Gifts! I have that one on my TBR pile somewhere myself. Like I legit do not remember where it went! Lol. It must be in my trunk of books! I need my own place so I can get better organized with these TBR books! I hope you get to read this one soon! I remember it had a spooky vibe which was why I picked up the first one! Hopefully I’ll get to that one one day too…pending that I can find it! Lol.

  2. After venturing into a couple other zombie stories, I confess this series does make me curious. For you, with the first one under your belt, this will likely be really good.

  3. When I love a book I always have to get the next book right away and then 9 times out of 10 I rarely read it. It’s almsot like I’m scared that it won’t live up the the first book.
