A gripping apocalyptic thriller about a man and his family running for their lives in an America gone mad—from the New York Times bestselling author of Dark Matter and Recursion

Five days ago, the epidemic of rage began.

Four days ago, the rash of senseless murders swept the nation.

Three days ago, the President addressed the country and begged for peace—even as the murders increased tenfold.

Two days ago, the killers began to mobilize.

One day ago, the power went out.

And tonight, the killers are reading the names of those to be killed on the Emergency Broadcast System.

Jack Colclough is listening over the battery-powered radio on his kitchen table in Albuquerque, and he just heard his name. People are coming to his house to kill him, his wife, his daughter, his son.
He doesn't know why, but he doesn’t have time to think about that anymore.

He only has time to run.

Following an ordinary family on a desperate race for safety through an America that's destroying itself, Run is a terrifying, brutally stripped-down thriller from master storyteller Blake Crouch.

This was exciting! I was thrilled when I saw this book listed as a future release since I have had some great luck with other titles written by Blake Crouch. When I looked closer, I realized this was a re-release of a book originally published in 2011. Even more surprising was the fact that I owned a copy of the ebook and the audiobook. I took it as my sign to go ahead and pick this book up.

I listened to the original audiobook edition narrated by Phil Gigante so I can’t tell you how this book might have been updated but I can tell you that this story is worth picking up. I tend to enjoy end of the world stories so this book grabbed me right away. I couldn’t imagine trying to save my family in a world where most of the world seems to be ready to kill everyone they know. There was plenty of action to keep this story moving along. I feared for this family and couldn’t wait to see how things would work out in the end.

Phil Gigante does a good job with the narration of this audiobook. He does come with his own baggage though. I bought this audiobook prior to learning of his criminal issues. He is an award-winning narrator who brings those skills to this audiobook but I am glad to see that this book is being re-released with new narration.

I would recommend this book to others. I found it to be a thrilling story with characters I grew to like. Once I started this book, I didn’t want to set it aside. I look forward to reading more of this talented author’s work in the future.

I received a digital review copy of this book from Ballantine Books.
