NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER * SOON TO BE A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE FROM WARNER BROTHERS PICTURES * “Reads like Apollo 13 underwater.” —Don Winslow * “Masterful.” —Patricia Cornwell * “A stunningly vivid tour de force!” Gripping. Shocking.” —Brad Thor
Flight attendant turned New York Times bestselling author T. J. Newman’s adrenaline-fueled thriller about a commercial jetliner that crashes into the ocean and sinks to the bottom with passengers trapped inside—and the extraordinary rescue operation to save them.
Six minutes after takeoff, Flight 1421 crashes into the Pacific Ocean. During the evacuation, an engine explodes and the plane is flooded. Those still alive are forced to close the doors—but it’s too late. The plane sinks to the bottom with twelve passengers trapped inside.
More than two hundred feet below the surface, engineer Will Kent and his eleven-year-old daughter Shannon are waist-deep in water and fighting for their lives.
Their only chance at survival is an elite rescue team on the surface led by professional diver Chris Kent—Shannon’s mother and Will’s soon-to-be ex-wife—who must work together with Will to find a way to save their daughter and rescue the passengers from the sealed airplane, which is now teetering on the edge of an undersea cliff.
There’s not much time. There’s even less air.
With devastating emotional power and heart-stopping suspense, Drowning is an unforgettable thriller about a family’s desperate fight to save themselves and the people trapped with them—against impossible odds.
Why did I add Drowning to my bookshelf?
I really enjoyed T.J. Newman’s first book, Falling, so I was excited to have the opportunity to listen to Drowning. I can’t tell you why I haven’t read it yet. The reviews are overwhelmingly good and it sounds really exciting so there really is no reason I have given it a try yet. I thought about listening to it during my recent flight but decided that might tempt fate a little too much. Hopefully, I can get to it soon.
What are your thoughts? Have you read this book? Would you recommend it?
I feel like it would be risky reading a thriller involving travel! I can’t look at rest stops the same after I read one thriller where it all started at a creepy rest stop! Lol. Hope you get to read this one soon…especially when you’re safe on the ground! 😉
I read this one last summer and it’s very fast-paced and suspenseful. I really liked it.
People seem to love this authors book and I’ve been curious to pick one up as well. Hope you find time for it soon.
Yeah, that does sound great. I wouldn’t want to listen to it either if I was flying at the moment. 🙂
I am not familiar with this author or book, but I hope it’s a good one for you.
I haven’t read it. I usually stay away from books that have to do with being stuck under water. Not for me.
Well I loved this so I’d read it if you can read it without having to put it down.
Nice thriller, so yeah maybe give it ago
I remember enjoying Falling. This sounds interesting though I have too many trips lined up to read thrillers about travel!
