Secrets are revealed and forbidden sparks ignited in this sizzling Sunrise Cove standalone, a tale of enemies to lovers, redemption, missing treasures, and love—by romance superstar and New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis.

Anna Moore didn’t just wake up one day and decide to go on a wild quest—especially since her life no longer lends itself to wild anything—so how in the world does she end up racing against the clock with Owen Harris, a sexy, enigmatic adventurist, to prove her beloved dad innocent of stealing a million-dollar necklace?

It’s all Wendy’s fault. Her older, bossy sister, who’s seven months pregnant and on bed rest in their small Lake Tahoe hometown, is desperate to clear their departed dad’s name. Owen, though, is convinced he’s guilty as hell and wants to return the jewelry back to its rightful owner—his elderly great aunt. Together Anna and Owen go on a scavenger hunt for clues to the past (with Wendy remotely along for the ride via an earbud, supplying a running wry commentary to boot).

On opposing sides and suspicious of each other as they are, Anna and Owen still can’t deny the inexplicable and explosive chemistry between them on this heart-stopping adventure, the outcome of which will prove the necklace isn’t the only thing stolen—their hearts have been as well.

This was a great book! I always seem to enjoy myself when I pick up one of Jill Shalvis’s books. She can create characters that you can’t help but love and feel like family. That is exactly how I felt about this book. Anna, Owen, and Wendy were all amazing and I was quickly invested in seeing good things happen for all three of them. I am only mad at myself for waiting so long to read this one.

Wendy, who is on bedrest and heavily pregnant with triplets, convinces her sister Anna to clear their father’s name from a heist. Owen believes that Anna’s father may be responsible for the theft of his great aunt’s jewelry and some valuable coins. The pair team up to try to get to the bottom of things. Since Wendy can’t leave the house, she often convinces her sister to let her listen in during the investigation remotely.

I really liked Anna and Owen together. I felt like they had a lot of chemistry and their personalities seemed to match up very well. They were expecting very different outcomes from the investigation but were still able to work together without any trouble. Wendy could be a bit much but she added a few laughs and I loved seeing her relationship with Anna grow during this story.

Andi Arndt is one of my favorite narrators with good reason. She does an amazing job of voicing both the male and female characters. She was able to bring just the right amount of emotion to her reading to really bring this story to life. I think that her delivery of the more comical moments of the story heightened the humor of those moments as well. I am certain that her narration added to my overall enjoyment of this story.

I would not hesitate to recommend this book to others. While this book is part of the Sunrise Cove series, I believe that it reads as a stand-alone. I enjoyed going on this journey with Anna and Owen as they found their happily ever after.

I received a digital review copy of this book from Avon Books.
