The lies are bigger and the plots more treacherous when your favourite backstabbers return in the mind-blowing sequel to instant Sunday Times and New York Times bestseller Mai Corland's epic adventure fantasy Five Broken Blades

The King of Yusan may be the greatest liar of them all.

His sister's ring is in his sights, and he will do anything to get what he wants. Even manipulating the five blades to steal it...

Bonded by deceit, the blades must rely on their skills to pull off King Joon's pursuit or risk his legendary wrath.

A foreign rule of law stands between them and Quilimar, the Queen of Khitan. Now they have one month to steal the powerful Golden Ring of the Dragon Lord. But that impossible task might be easier than trusting one another, even though their lives, their families, and the realms depend on it.

They can all agree on one thing: the king can't win. But can they beat him at his own game?

Because for the blades, this time it's not just personal, it's revenge. Lies may have torn them apart, but now vengeance will bring them together.

The lies have only just begun...

Why did I add Four Ruined Realms to my bookshelf?

I loved the first book in this trilogy, Five Broken Blades, and was excited to read the second book in the trilogy. This book came out right during the period of time that I was under a doctor’s orders not to read. Now it has been long enough that I wonder if I can jump into this book without re-reading the first book, so I can remember what is happening. Hopefully, I will find the time to tackle the entire trilogy soon.

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it?

  1. Ooh nice! I just saw Mai last week downtown with the Novel Neighbor! I was curious about her new book and I wanted to see her conversation partners as well as I’ve been dying to meet Abigail Owen! Lol. Hope you’re able to get to this one soon and maybe find a book 1 recap somewhere. This is largely the reason why I take so many notes when I read a series, so that I have a refresher of some sort later down the line. Still in trouble for the dozens of books I read before I started that, but that’s a problem for another time! Lol.

  2. I hate when you wait too long between books in a series like this because then you do feel like you need to reread the first one…at least I always do…but who has time for that? ;D
