Stacking the Shelves #20

Posted May 14, 2016 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 15 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
This was really a pretty uneventful week.  I did spend a lot of time at the school to attend a couple of awards ceremonies as the school year winds down.  It is hard to believe that school will be over for my daughter after next week.  I have been in a bit of a reading slump and have taken a bit of a break from reading this week.  I am sure that I will be ready to jump into a new book soon though.

Digital Books
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater (Kindle Purchase)
The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner (Kindle Purchase)
Wicked Ride by Rebecca Zanetti (Kindle Purchase)

I have had my eye on these books for a while so when I saw them on sale this week, I one-clicked before I even knew what I had done.  These 3 books cost a total of just under $5 so I think I did pretty good.

Print Books
Forbidden by Beverly Jenkins (Won)
Domestic Violets by Matthew Norman (Dollar Store Purchase)

I am always so happy when I win a new book!  I would not have picked up Forbidden on my own but now that I have it in my house, I am really looking forward to it.  Thanks Addicted to Romance, Quinn’s Book Nook, On a Book Bender, and Feminist Fairy Tales!  Of course I had to pick up a new book when I stopped in the dollar store for a card…it couldn’t be helped!

Audiobooks

Vivian Apple at the End of the World by Katie Coyle (Free @ Audiobook Sync)
The Sin Eater’s Daughter by Melinda Salisbury (Free @ Audiobook Sync)
Blue Monday by Nicci French (Free @ Try Audiobooks)

I am a sucker for free stuff.  Especially free audibooks!  Audiobook Sync has started their season and 2 new audiobooks will be available for a free download every week.  This is such a great summer program!  I picked up Vivian Apple at the End of the World last weekend but The Sin Eater’s Daughter is currently on offer!  I also was able to get Nicci French’s Blue Monday as a freebie from Try Audiobooks.  You can find the download here.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  3. oh yay for Beverly Jenkins. Love her books, I haven't yet read Forbidden, but I am planning on it soon. So thrilled you picked that one up. 🙂

  4. You had some good finds there. I want to read the Maggie Stiefvater series eventually and I've been meaning to try Beverly Jenkins. Hope you enjoy them.

  5. I've heard of quite a few of these, but have not read any of them. I definitely plan on binge-reading the Raven Cycle books, now that the final one is published. I hope you enjoy all of your new additions, Carole!

  6. I didn't add any new books to my shelves this week. These sound good though. I find it hard to pass up a good sale, especially when it is a book I really want to read.

  7. Yay for the win. And thanks for the audio heads up. I forgot they did that, and it looks like they have some good ones coming up.

  8. Boo. Reading slumps. I hope you get your groove back soon. 🙂

Also, I'm jealous of your copy of The Serpent King. People say that book is ridiculously good, and I still haven't managed to get a copy yet. I hope you enjoy it!
