Stacking the Shelves #24

Posted June 11, 2016 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 40 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews

I am having such a hard time getting my head back into blogging and reading.  I did find some time to finish the book that I had started on June 1.  I still can’t believe that I spent 9 days reading a short little book.  I also made myself finish the audiobook that I had going.  I wasn’t enjoying it so that probably didn’t help.  My library’s summer reading club has started so maybe that will help motivate me.

Print Books
The Crooked Heart of Mercy by Billie Livigston (Won on LibraryThing)

I won this book back in February and had really given up on receiving it at this point.  I was really pretty happy to get this kind of surprise in the middle of the week.  I have a little bit of hope that the other two books that I won at LibraryThing might actually show up someday but I really kind of doubt that I will ever see the book that I won back in January.

Audiobooks
I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson (Audiobook Sync)
Zac and Mia by A.J. Betts (Audiobook Sync)

I picked up two awesome freebies from Audiobook Sync this week.  I am pretty excited about this pair of audiobooks even though I am not sure when I might get around to listening to them.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Well with our St. Louis summers which are hot and miserable, being motivated to read is a big factor! Hopefully you'll get your reading groove back!

These are new to me reads!! Hope you enjoy each and every one of them!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. Yes, hopefully your book club will help you get your reading groove back. That's something how long your prize book took to arrive. I'd have given up hope, too.
Neat that you're finding audio books you like through the audio program.

    • I really thought that this book was a lost cause. Usually prizes come pretty quickly but not lately with LibraryThing. I did notice that all of the books that I am owed are from the same publisher so that may be the issue.

  3. Oh, I grabbed those audio freebies as well but forgot to add them to my STS.
I hope you get out of that reading slump soon! I spent the last 2 weeks on one book but I'm determined to finish it today so I can move on to better books!
    Have a great week!

  4. There's not much worse than a book prize not turning up-or a reading slump of some kind. I'm trying to drag myself out of a slump right now as I haven't read a book in weeks!

    • It is so disappointing to think you are getting something but to have it never show up. It seems like a lot of people are going through reading slumps lately. I hope we all snap out of it soon.

  5. I'll Give You the Sun is such an amazing book! Hopefully that'll get you out of your reading slump! 😀

    Enjoy your new books! 🙂

  6. Both Zac and Mia and I'll Give You Everything look really good. And that's awesome that you finally got the LibraryThing book. I think I'd probably give up on the January book too but you never know. Good luck getting motivated. I always find it hard to read when summer first starts. Between school being out and the temperature rising I'm just not feeling books. Luckily I've had two really great ones in a row so that's helping my motivation.

Reading slumps are rubbish! I hope it gets better for you soon. 🙂

  8. I remember liking Zac and Mia a few years ago. Great you got it for free. I'm sure you'll get back in the swing of things soon.

  9. I've not had an ideal reading week as well. Boo. Let's hope things will improve for us next week. Enjoy your books this week!

  10. I read the hardback version of I'll Give You the Sun, and it was okay. I think there was a lot of hype surrounding it that made me disappointed when I actually got to read the book. Hopefully the audio version is better. 🙂

  11. Nine days isn't terrible! Think about your average person, reading two or three books in one year. 😉 I'm not too familiar with any of your new additions! I hope you enjoy all of your new books, Carole.

Thanks for visiting my blog! Have a lovely weekend. =)

  12. I just got to go to an author event yesterday with Jandy Nelson, so I bought I'll Give You The Sun, and she autographed it. She was so very kind. Have a great week.

  13. Yes LibraryThing can be a bit of a slow spot when you win books from them. But these look like some great reads! Visitors to my blog are always welcome (so are followers!), so,please, if you'd like, stop by and see my StS here.

  14. I've been grabbing all the audiobooks this year. They really have some great ones this year. Hopefully I can start some of them soon.
