Stacking the Shelves #34

Posted August 20, 2016 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 22 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
This was a very important week at my house.  My daughter turned 16 on Sunday and I survived her slumber party – it wasn’t too bad actually.  On Monday, my husband took her to take her driver’s test and she passed!  This means she can drive herself to all of her evening activities.  I couldn’t be happier!!  I am looking forward to getting back to doing some of the things that I love a little more often.

Digital Books

The Twenty-Three by Linwood Barclay (NetGalley)
The Dog, Ray by Linda Coggin (NetGalley)
Home by Harlan Coben (First to Read)
Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland (First to Read)
Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas (Amazon Sale Purchase)
Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas (Amazon Sale Purchase)
Beauty and the Blacksmith by Tessa Dare (Amazon Freebie)
The Prophet by Amanda Stevens (Amazon Sale Purchase)

Lots of new books this week!  I requested The Twenty-Three some time ago so I was a bit surprised to see that I had finally been approved.  I am giddy to get an early copy of Harlan Coben’s Home.  I have only read the first chapter so far but it was awesome.  I had to pick up the two Lisa Kleypas books when I saw them for less than $2 because…Lisa Kleypas!  I have been wanting to read Tessa Dare so I was thrilled to grab a novella up as a freebie.  I couldn’t resist The Prophet when it was on sale this week.  I have the first 2 books in the series and I am looking forward to a binge read in the future.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Yay for your daughter passing her driving test!! I wanted Home and Our Chemical Hearts from First to Read but they were out of guaranteed copies and I didn't get the drawing. Can't wait to see what you think of both of them. Enjoy all your new books and have a great week!!

    • I wake up way too early and usually check First to Read before I do anything else. I have been lucky to get some awesome books from that program. I have only been lucky enough to win a drawing one time. Thanks, Grace!

  2. YAY for surviving your daughter's slumber party–and for her passing her drivers' test! That's awesome, and means more reading time for you (which is always a good thing)!

Our Chemical Hearts has been on my TBR for aaaaages…but I totally forgot it even existed! Thank you for reminding me that it's out there!

Here's hoping you enjoy all your recent acquisitions–and your newfound quiet time in the evenings! Here's my Stacking the Shelves, if you're interested in checking it out–but no worries if you're not! Happy book-ing to you in the near future.

  3. Oh yay! Congrats to your daughter!! And ooh nice new reads! Some new to me ones but seeing a lot of Chemical Hearts lately! Hope you enjoy all the new reads!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!

  4. Congratulations to your daughter and to you for not having to deal with evening activities! It makes life so much easier! So many great books this week. Devil in Winter is my favorite Kleypas books and I really want to read the new series. Have a great week!

  5. Nice to have a new driver in the family to free you up a bit. 🙂

Oh yes, very nice haul. That is always a surprise when a book I requested weeks before from NG suddenly gets approved and I am not sure where I can fit it in at that late date. Oh well…

  6. Congrats to your daughter. I hauled Our Chemical Hearts and The Dog Ray as well this week. Enjoy all your reads.

  7. I so need to read those Lisa Kleypas HRs. I just can't find the time to squeeze them in my already hectic reading schedule. Bah.

    Happy reading!

  8. Congrats to both of you, now you can spend a little more time reading 🙂
Great haul, I hope you enjoy your books!
    Check out my STS

  9. All of your books look really good this week, and what's sad is I haven't heard of any of them before. I'll be adding some stuff to my TBR very soon. 🙂

Hope you enjoy your new lovelies!
