Stacking the Shelves #35

Posted August 27, 2016 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 26 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
This has been a much quieter week for me.  Yay!  I spent most of last weekend reading and doing things around the house.  My evenings during the work week still don’t seem to have enough time to get everything done.  I did squeeze in a book and an audiobook during the week so I did okay.  Fear the Walking Dead started back up and while I wasn’t completely impressed with this week’s episode, I was very happy to have zombies back on my TV screen.

Digital Books

Transcendent by Katelyn Detweiler (First to Read)
Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult (First to Read)
Still Life with Tornado by A.S. King (First to Read)
Deadly Silence by Rebecca Zanetti (NetGalley)

I can’t seem to resist all of the wonderful books on offer at First to Read.  I hope that the books I added this week will be as good as some of the other recent offerings.  I love starting a series just as it is beginning so when I saw that Deadly Silence was the first in a new series, I requested it right away.

Print Books

The Last Mile by David Baldacci (From Publisher – Grand Central Publishing)

I loved the first book in the Amos Decker series and somehow missed the initial release of The Last Mile earlier this year.  When UPS dropped it off Tuesday night, I decided to take a look and couldn’t put it down.  I should be posting my review soon.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Glad it was a quieter week!! Ugh I didn't get any of the books I wanted from First to Read. All the guaranteed copies were gone when I checked and I missed the drawing. Oh well!! I hope you enjoy what you got!!

  2. Hi Carole! I'm glad that you still managed to squeeze in a book here and there, if there is a horror movie that I would watch, zombies are definitely one of them. Anything but ghosts! :p I am intrigued by Still Life with Tornado, there's something about the cover that seemed really interesting, I'm keeping a lookout on your thoughts about the book! Great haul, hope you have fun with them 😀

  3. Nice new haul! Glad you snuck some reading time in! That's always important! LOL! Gotta keep ourselves sane now right? (That's my philosophy at least!) Happy reading!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. These all look really good! Especially the Deadly Silence. Jodi Piccoult and I tend not to get along so I look forward to seeing what you think there. First to Read is so tempting. I have an account but haven't logged in for ages. I'm thinking I should stay away as I wouldn't be able to resist the books either!

  5. Quieter weeks are so lovely between the crazy ones. Glad you got some reading in.
Oh hey, I snagged that new Rebecca Zanetti, too. Looked good.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  6. I've had a real First to Read problem lately. I think I have 6 of their books to read before the middle of October, but they've had some really good ones lately. I will have to remember to feature some of the ones I got on my haul next week. I got Small Great Things as well. Glad you got to read some. I get grouchy when I can't read.

  7. Still Life with Tornadoes and Small Great Things are on my wish list! Can't wait to read your reviews. Happy reading!

  8. Totally agree with you about Fear the Walking Dead, it was an okay episode but I hate how it was all about Nick! I was so excited to see what everyone was up to and it was just about him :/ Hopefully next episode is much better!
Great haul, I hope you enjoy your weekend.
    Check out my haul

  9. It is vital to have some kind of zombies in your life! I haven't read one in a while other than an attempt at zombies that I abandoned yesterday but hope the next book is better!
