Stacking the Shelves #105

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life

I have had a good week.  We had a few warmer days this week but it is back to being cold again.  Oh well, it is winter.  I had a good week at work and was able to catch up on a lot of projects.  I also had a good reading week which is always a good thing.

Last weekend, my husband and I rearranged some furniture and spruced things up a bit around the house.  One of my bedrooms is now a library/office.  My books are on bookshelves and I can actually see what I have.  My daughter has moved her studying from her bedroom into the re-organized room.  We actually had most of the items in the room there before but the space wasn’t being used well.

This morning I am going with my sister and her twins to see Disney on Ice.  It has been a very long time since I went to something like that considering my youngest child is 17 years old.  Of course, she likes Disney and is also planning to go.

Books for Review

Only Human by Sylvain Neuvel (NetGalley)
Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton (NetGalley)

I am trying not to request books on NetGalley.  Only Human is one of my most anticipated reads this year so I gave myself permission to request it.  I will be reviewing Next Year in Havana as part of the blog tour this week so I decided it was time to download my copy from NetGalley.  I am really excited about both of these books.

Hello Stranger by Lisa Kleypas (Publisher)

I love Lisa Kleypas so I was thrilled to get the chance to review her upcoming book as part of the blog tour.  It is so nice to hold this beautiful book in my hands.

Books Purchased

Curious Minds by Janet Evanovich and Phoef Sutton (Paperback Swap)
Best Friends, Occasional Enemies by Lisa Scottoline & Francesca Serritella (Paperback Swap)

I was in a shopping kind of mood the other day but I didn’t want to spend money.  I remembered that I had a lot of credits waiting to be spent at Paperback Swap.  I used to love Janet Evanovich so I thought I would give Curious Minds a try.  I really enjoy these books by Lisa Scottoline and her daughter, Francesca Serritella.  I was a little surprised to find that my copy has been signed by both authors.

Peripeteia by Sarah Lyons Fleming (Audible Purchase)
This is probably not a surprise to anyone following this blog since I have been slightly obsessed by Sarah Lyons Fleming’s writing lately.  I finished the first book in this zombie series a couple of weeks ago and am very eager to start listening to this one.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Yeah it was a bit warmer this week and then it god super cold again. So ready for spring. Sounds like your library is awesome! Disney on Ice is fun. We went with my daughter a couple years back. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!

  2. I'm not doing well on the reduce the TBR and buy less books thing! This week I've added three horror books to the haul but a book cull may be needed again soon…Have a good weekend!

  3. Disney on Ice! I remember those. How fun!

I have given myself permission for probably five books too many from Net Galley already. Guilt has set in, but if they are great then I will try to shake off the guilt. LOL

Nice deal with your book swap credit.

  4. Glad you had a good reading week. 🙂 It warmed up briefly here too (like one day), then the temps plunged again! Ugh.

I'm really curious about Only human as I read the first book of that series, but now I'm behind. 🙁

Yay for the reorganized library space!

  5. That's awesome on the reorganizing! I know I'm not using my space the best but all that reorganization can be a bit daunting. That's so great about the new Lisa Kleypas. She's one of my favorites too yet somehow I haven't even started the new series. Have a great week!

    • I feel like I should have been able to see how much better the room was this way years ago. We did keep the cat stuff in the room so some space opened up when we donated everything to a rescue group after her death. I haven't read the new Kleypas series yet either but the publisher says that this new one is fine as a stand alone.

  6. Disney on Ice is fun. It's been eons for me (my kid turns 23 tomorrow!) How nice to have a library. #goals. I have heard nothing but good things about Next Year in Havana and Hello Stranger. I have no NG/EW self control, but I do read a lot of books, so it's all good.

  7. Sounds like you had a great week and so glad you're getting more use out of your revamped room. I'm still working on mine – soon, I keep telling myself. Congrats on managing to control yourself on Netgalley. Good job!

  8. I've never seen anything on ice. That sounds like fun. I've also never heard of these books before, but I hope you like them!

  9. How is paperbackswap these days? I let my membership lapse because I was sending nearly new books and getting crap books in return and I had a few bad experiences last year with complaints about MP3 audio's (even though it was clearly stated in the description that that's what they were). I've been going back and forth on whether or not I'll return but I'm leaning on not. I'm enjoying my local UBS again but the pickings are slim sometimes.

    Have a great week!

    • I have been really lucky with Paperback Swap so far. I don't have a paid membership. The books that I send are always in great shape and I haven't had any complaints about the books that I have received in return. All of the used books stores in my area that I used to go to are gone. I have seen one or two may be back in the area but I haven't been to one in years.

  10. I'm reading Hello Stranger right now for a blog tour as well. I had never read a Lisa Kleypas book before, but I'm really enjoying her style of writing.

Getting to put your books on a shelf and organizing it is such a satisfying feeling. I had to take my down to pack them up because of my upcoming move. 🙁

Hope you have a great week! ~Aleen

    • Kleypas is such a great writer and has an amazing backlist of books. She could keep you busy for a while. It is great to have my books up on a shelf where I can see them but I do need to get them better organized.

  11. A week late, but I am glad you had a good week. Hopefully this more recent week was just as good and productive for you. Yay for having a library/office space! That will be nice. I hope you enjoyed Disney on Ice! That sounds like fun. NetGalley is my bane. I really need to stay away . . . I really want to read Sylvain Neuvel's books. I have them. I just need to read them now. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and week, Carole!
