Marching band is in full swing and has taken over our lives in a lot of ways. My daughter is up and out of the house very early every day for practice before school and is out every evening for some kind of practice. I ate dinner alone most nights this week with everyone else running out of the house almost non-stop. We had a football game halftime performance on Friday night and an all-day competition on Saturday. I usually have helped with all of the heavy props in the past but I don’t feel that I am quite ready for it this year since I am still healing from surgery. I kind of feel bad about it seeing all of the hard work being done but it was really nice to get a chance to sit in the stands and just enjoy all of the bands. Our band took 2nd place overall so it was a very rewarding day for the group.

My daughter and I went to the dollar store last week and left with this pile of books. I think we found some great new additions for our bookshelves and you can’t beat the $1 per book price tag.
i never knew NPH wrote a book! how is it?
I liked it when I read it a couple of years ago. It is interesting in the manner that it is laid out. I am not really sure why I didn't keep my copy but I am glad to have it on my shelves again.
Wow! Sounds like super busy times! And oooh…you gave your blog a new look (right? I lose my mind on occasion. It feels new at least!)!! Very pretty!
Nice new reads too! All new to me ones, some look familiar but I know I've never read any! Hope you enjoy them all!
Here's my STS
Have a GREAT day!

It has been busy around here lately. No recent changes to the blog. I changed the wallpaper a couple of months ago and added page breaks about a month ago but that is it.
I have my fingers and toes crossed for your daughter. I hope she gets the scholarship. Nice stack of books there. I am a Starbound fan. I thought the second book has such a strong Romeo and Juliet vibe.
She will be applying for quite a few scholarships so I think she should get at least a few. I was excited to see some of the Disney books at the dollar store.
Cool photos. Congratulations to your daughterโs band! I hope she gets the scholarship. Enjoy your new books! Have a great week!
Aj @ Read All The Things!
Thanks, AJ!
Sounds busy busy. I love that you found a bunch of books at the dollar store.
It has been busy busy! Hard to keep up some weeks ๐
Some interesting books for you there! Many are new to me. Happy reading!
Thanks, Melliane!
I know what you mean about not being able to help like you usually do–but you need to take care of you right now and I am glad you are doing so. Healing takes time. I love that you keep us posted on your daughter's activities! Good luck to her with the scholarship applications! And congratulations to the band for doing so well!
Your new books all look great! I don't go to the dollar store often enough. Have a great week, Carole!
I am okay with just being a spectator this year but it seems strange not to be doing the work with everyone else. The band has so much to be proud of – those kids work so hard!
So many books! Awesome
Thanks!
Good luck to your daughter and hey, you've earned getting to enjoy her last season. That's a great haul. I've read Roomies some time ago and really enjoyed it a lot.
I think my daughter added Roomies to our stack but it sounds like it could be good.
I loved band. I was in band – jazz, marching and concert band in college. I played in a community band for a bit also.
I don't really know any of the books you got, so I'll be interested to read your reviews!
I think I'm finally all healed from my procedure. The hurricane threat is mostly over. Now just to continue with my daughter's medical stuff. Have a good reading week! Anne – Books of My Heart
Band is awesome! I am so glad that my daughter is so involved with band. She is always playing music. I hope you get your daughter's medical issues worked out soon.
Looks like you had a great hall at the dollar store! ๐
We did!
I'm glad you decided not to carry anything heavy for the band! That could have been nasty! Nice to see you got some booky bargains too!
I am trying to do a little more but gradually. I know it when I do too much!
Oh a nerve wracking wait. Fingers crossed yall get some good news on that front!
There is going to be a lot of waiting to find out if she got a scholarship this year.
Good luck with the scholarship applications! I remember doing that! Very smart to not get involved in the heavy lifting though I know that was hard but how nice to be able to sit and really enjoy the performance. And congratulations to coming in 2nd! Hope you're having a great week!
My husband was helping out so our family was well represented ๐
