Stacking the Shelves #148

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
This was a quieter week which was very welcome.  My daughter did have a band concert Wednesday night but the rest of our evenings were pretty open.  I am looking forward to a quiet weekend as well.  Next week does look pretty crazy so I think I need to rest up to get ready for it…lol.  My husband and I are celebrating our 19th Anniversary today.  He is working all day and we actually have no plans so maybe celebrating is the wrong word 🙂

I had a pretty good reading week finishing 3 audiobooks and 1 digital book.  I am starting to work on my reading plan for next year and work out my goals.   I think I might actually be able to make a dent in my past due ARC pile if I can follow the plan that I am working out.

Books Added

A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World by C.A. Fletcher (NetGalley)
The Wizards of Once by Cressida Cowell (Audible Purchase)
Consumed by You by Lauren Blakely (Kindle Purchase)

I am so excited to be approved to read A Boy and His Dog at the End of the World!  I cannot wait to start reading that one and may try to sneak it in very soon.  The Wizards of Once was on sale for under $2 as an Audible daily deal and I couldn’t resist.  I decided to grab Consumed by You since it was $0.99 and I usually have a good time Lauren Blakely’s work.

S. by J.J. Abrams and Doug Dorst

I saw S. on Inky Impressions when Jovita featured it on a recent Books from the Backlog post.  It looks like such an interesting book filled with notes, maps, and various inserts.  I knew that I needed to have this book in my life as soon as I saw it on Jovita’s blog.  You can see her post with additional photos here.  I haven’t broken the seal yet but I am sure I will do so soon.   My copy came with a hole gouged out in the slipcase which is kind of disappointing but it is in the back and not too big so I am just going to pretend that it isn’t there.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Happy Anniversary to you both! It's just a shame that Mr Carole is working! I took a look at S through your link…it looks intriguing but way too confusing for me to read! If you need notes to tell you how to read it then I don't think it's for me but I'll be interested to see what you think!

  2. Congrats! Happy Anniversary! And yay for a quiet week! I miss those! Lol! I had an exhausting week and this coming week will only be marginally better unfortunately.

Nice new reads too! Totally new to me ones! Hope you enjoy them all!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. Congratulations on 19 years. That's wonderful! I hope you and your husband enjoy your quiet time together. The Lauren Blakely book has me interested. Definitely in my wheelhouse, and I keep wanting to try one of her books. Enjoy!

  4. LOL, the quiet before the storm next week. That's great and happy anniversary. 🙂

Nice little haul! LOL, oh man, we were on the save wavelength. I saw S and put it on my list to buy, too. 🙂

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Carole!

  5. A quiet week is a good week! I hope you have a good week even if it's isn't as quiet. I also like Luaren Blakely – I think she is funny but she is also prolific. I can't keep up.

I love a plan and have been working on mine also. I now have only ONE ARC which isn't current. Yay! Stick to it. Anne – Books of My Heart

  6. I'm looking forward to Christmas I get 10 days off and plan to spend them quietly myself:) I have got to grab A Boy And His Dog. Happy Anniversary:)

  7. Happy anniversary, Carole! Hope you found sometime to celebrate.

I need to make a plan with my ARCs to get them read sooner since I've just accumulated quite a few. It kind of stresses me out a little to have so many in the to-be-read pile, but these were all books I really want to read.

  8. I got The Boy and his Dog too and almost jumped up and down. It's one of my most anticipated. Looks like you got some great books this week!

  9. Happy anniversary! Hopefully you'll be able to celebrate soon since you couldn't on the actual day. A quiet week is always nice. Enjoy your books! Have a great week!
