Stacking the Shelves #171

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
I have been largely absent lately.  I do apologize.  This hasn’t been a great week.  I am under a ridiculous amount of stress right now and there aren’t going to be any quick fixes.   I have come to the realization that I need to try to control the things in my life that I can.  I considered taking a break for a while but getting behind with reviews causes me stress so I made the decision to keep posting.  I have not been able to keep up with commenting but I hope that I will do better soon.

My week did have a one really high point.  Every year, my daughter’s high school honors their top ten seniors with the highest GPAs.  I took a couple of hours off of work and went to the assembly where they were named.  This year’s top ten GPAs ranged from 4.65 to 4.8.  My daughter is graduating as #5 in her class with a GPA slightly above a 4.7.  I am so very proud of my daughter.  She worked so hard to get where she is and really deserved this moment in the spotlight.

Books Added
Little Darlings by Melanie Golding (Purchased)
I actually have a copy of this book from NetGalley but I am doing such a poor job with reading lately that I thought that it might be better to listen to this one.  I am enjoying it so far.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Stress is, well stressful! Take it easy and let reviews go, ok so that is really hard and I can not do it either

  2. You must be really proud of your daughter and she deserves her success. I was a slave to stress for years and it took me ages to realise that there are things I can't control so getting stressed about it won't do any good. It was harder to do in practice but I got there gradually and so can you. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that things get better.

  3. Oh wow!!! Congrats to your daughter! I envy her smarts! I think I spent my head in the clouds too much during school. I was a reader back then too and daydreaming of my own novels. Lol. She should be very proud of her achievements!! That's amazing!!

Ooh Little Darlings! I was eyeing this one because, you know, possible evil fae! We're talking old school! Lol. Hope you end up enjoying it audio wise! Definitely going to look forward to your review!

I hope things get less stressful for you. I've been stressed out all week with my new commute downtown. I hate it soooo much. It gives me such anxiety every time I have to get in my car now during the week. Ack.

    Happy Reading!

My StS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. Bummer about the stress and troubles. You do have the right idea about doing what you can do and hopefully ride out the rest. Yay for your daughter. That is amazing. No worries about stopping by with comments. Come when you can.

    Have a restful weekend, Carole!

  5. Hate you're under so much stress! Sending prayers your way! Congrats to your daughter! My son just graduated so I understand the mixed feelings that can come to moms at this time – joy over their accomplishments and being sad that they're growing up too fast.

  6. Congratulations to your daughter and how exciting that she has discovered how to use her intelligence so early and achieved her #5. That's an impressive GPA. Plus, it's not like she had any extra curriculars to keep her busy! I'm sorry to hear this was another rough week for you and I hope you can get some relaxation and destressing in this week. *hugs*

  7. Take care of yourself. Congrats to your daughter that's exciting. I'm out of town so I'm going to be a lousy commentor this weekend.

  8. ((HUGS)) Carole. I am sorry things are not getting better. Hang in there. Take care of you. That is wonderful news about your daughter. What a wonderful accomplishment.

  9. Don't worry about the commenting! We will always be here so you don't need to stress it at all <3 I hope things can manage to clear up for you soon even if there won't be quick fixes — that it will at least become manageable. Hoping the best for you!!

  10. I hope things manage to slow down for you and do what you need to in order to take care of yourself. What an accomplishment for your daughter – I can see why you are so proud.

  11. Congrats to your daughter! That is fantastic, and she obviously worked really hard. I'm sorry things have been a bit tough. Definitely focus on what you NEED to do, and we'll all be here when things are going better.
