I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.
My Life
It has been a pretty good week. I have been able to read a few books and had a chat with a couple of friends. I had some computer problems mid-week and couldn’t get online to comment but I was able to resolve the issue. Our AC went out Thursday night. I couldn’t leave work on Friday to deal with the repairman so we are hanging out this weekend with our windows wide open. I am taking Monday off and hope that it is an easy fix.
Friday was the 25th anniversary of my dad’s death and it hit me a lot harder than I expected. It is funny how much you can miss someone even after so many years.

I hope you are able to get your AC fixed without too much trouble, Carole. I am sorry about your dad. I am sending a great big hug to you. The anniversary of my dad's passing is next week as well as my grandmother's, and it seems to be hitting me extra hard this year as well.
I hope you enjoy American Dirt and Heidi's Guide to Four Letter Words. Both sound good.
Take care of yourself, Carole. Have a great week!
The pain of losing someone never really goes away I guess. Sometimes even a simple thing can make it seem like yesterday it happened. Giving you a big virtual *hug*.
It's been almost 5 years since my grandpa passed and it's still hard to believe he's gone. He lived down the street from us so he came over a lot after my grandma passed. His visits were frequent and it's hard sitting in a quiet house and realizing he won't come walking through the door to tell me to tell my mom something very important only to later find out he had already called to tell her! Lol.
Eek, no AC? That's rough. At least this weekend it's in the low 80s and when the 90s hit by Monday, hopefully your AC guy will be there already!
Nice new reads! Those are totally new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!
My StS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Bummer about the A/C. I keep waiting for ours to kick the bucket b/c its at the limits for its age. Maybe another year out of it…
Tough anniversary for your dad's passing. My father in law's death catches my husband like that at times. It's tough and I wish you lots of good memories with him.
Both your haul books sound good. I do enjoy Andie Arendt as a narrator.
Have a good week, Carole!
Oh no! I hope they get the air fixed for you. It's hard to lose a parent. Mine have been gone 17 and 11 years and it still hard but the memories are what keep me going. Enjoy your weekend!
I hope they can fix the AC reasonably fast and easy for you. September 2nd would have been my moms 72nd birthday. She's been gone for 8 years now. I thought these dates would get easier to deal with but they're still hard so I feel for you and understand how hard the days are that come up.
I hope it's not sweltering there without the AC. My Dad's been gone 26 years but he would be 106 now. I think every day about things he taught me, how he helped me and how wonderful he was. I just wish he could have known my daughter; he loved children. I'm about 80 % through Heidi and it's amazing. I hope this week is even better with still having time for some reading AND no repairs.

I am glad the AC was fixed!
And hugs!
Oh no- good luck with the AC! That's always frustrating. Hope it's not too hot where you are in the interim.
Sending you supportive vibes about your dad. they say time heals but some losses, like parents, are always there. I lost my dad almost 5 years ago now and there's just a hole there.
Take care this week!
((HUGS)) Do you ever stop missing your loved ones? I love that picture though. That is a very cool big bird cake. You had quite a week. I hope the weather is cool enough that you are at least comfortable until your a/c is repaired. I have seen a bunch of reviews for Heidi's Guide. It sounds like a lot of fun.
oh this is a day for hugs and good memories
Oh man. I'm sorry about your AC. I just got one this year, and the thought of not having one now stresses me right out. I'm sorry to hear the anniversary of your dad's death is hitting you so hard. Sometimes it really sneaks up on us, even when we know what's coming.
Thanks for sharing.
Yesterday was the 6 month anniversary for my dad's passing. It still doesn't seem real.
Hugs, Carole. It truly doesn't matter how old we are or where we are in our lives, we will always miss our parents no matter what. <3
Have a great week!
I hope your AC gets fixed tomorrow, Carole.
I just lost my father last year and I can't imagine I'll miss him any less in 25 years. {{Hugs}} to you.
I just received Heidi's Guide to Four Letter Words for review and I'm so excited to start it. 🙂
Hope your AC gets worked out – what a drag. We had a cooler weekend here this weekend but I don't know if I'd still want to do without the AC. Such a great picture of you and your dad. Mine has only been gone 6 years but you are right, I don't know that it ever gets any easier. Sometimes Mr. Barb and I will be doing something and I'm overwhelmed by how much I miss him. Hope you guys and the pups are staying cool!
No matter how many years pass, we always miss those who have passed on before us <3 Some days, not even the anniversary, I suddenly miss my grandfathers so much! Sending you love <3
