Stacking the Shelves #199

Posted December 8, 2019 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 19 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
This has been a pretty routine week.  It was hard to go back to work after having a few extra days last week but I made it all 5 days.  I spent most evenings working catching up on all of the comments that I missed during the Thanksgiving week.  I am still working on it but have made some progress.

Today, my husband and I are celebrating our 20th anniversary by making the trip to my daughter’s college to see her concert.  It is going to be a long day and I fully expect to fall behind on comments again this week because of it. šŸ™‚  It looks like most of our Christmas celebrations will be happening in just another week or two.  I haven’t bought a single gift so there may be some frantic preparations before everything is over.

Books Added
Once again, I added a lot of books this week.  Nobody should be surprised at this point.

First, I added a few digital books and audiobooks.

The Dark Corners of NIght by Meg Gardiner (Edelweiss)
The Big Lie by James Grippando (Edelweiss)
The Beginning of Everything by Kristen Ashley (Publisher)
Cunning Devil by Chris Underwood (Author)
The A.I. Who Loved Me by Alyssa Cole (Publisher)
Dark Age by Pierce Brown (Purchased)
True Grit by Charles Portis (Purchased)
Smoke Gets in Your Eyes by Caitlin Doughty (Purchased)

Then, I received my most recent orders from Book Outlet.

After that, I received a few packages for publishers and online orders.
I also picked up a few books when I was shopping at thrift stores with my husband.
What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. When I used to do the Christmas present thing, I had everything bought and wrapped by the start of November to get it out of the way! I was never one for doing it all last minute! Nice monkey mug!

  2. Happy Anniversary!!! Hope you two have a great weekend visiting your daughter!

Nice new reads too! See some faves in there! *coughFINALEcough* I hope you will enjoy them all!

Oh and did you see that Tricia Levenseller will be at the St. Charles library in February? It's not the Spencer Road one, I can't recall which one at the moment, but wanted to mention it! Plus Marissa Meyer in March at Spencer Rd for the new Lunar Chronicles paperbacks. Haven't decided if I was going to that one as for the last two years I ordered my books signed from her! So sure enough she comes to St. Louis again! Lol!

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. Happy anniversary and enjoy your daughter's concert! All the activities make it tough to do things. Hence my frustration yesterday. But we really have a very low-key holiday plan and almost 4 weeks where my daughter doesn't have classes so I really can't complain.

Take a look at my post to see my overloaded book haul. Enjoy your books and have a great week, Carole!

  4. Happy anniversary! ?

I still need to start reading the Red Rising books! Between NetGalley ARCs and $1.99 Kindle ebook specials I have all but the last one. Ha ha. ?

Wow! This was some haul. Enjoy your books. ?āœØ

  5. Happy Anniversary, Carole! Safe trip and a fun concert. Tough getting back into the swing even with just one day off.
Nice haul! I got one nearly as big when my Book Outlet stack arrived. šŸ™‚

    Have a great week!

  6. Happy Anniversary! What a milestone to celebrate. You have been hauling books like mad. I hope there are lots of great reads in those stacks for you.

  7. I am crazy behind on responding to comments. Hopefully tomorrow I can plow through a lot of them. Today I am devoting to blog hopping. I've got a start on Christmas shopping but barely. And I certainly haven't wrapped a single thing. Time is going too quickly! Happy 20th anniversary, Carole! Hope you enjoy the drive together and the concert. šŸ™‚

  8. Happy Anniversary! Sounds like you had an eventful day. Some great looking books here. I see The Passage. It was my first read of 2019 and I really liked it but it took me FOREVER to finish it because I was reading multiple books. I do need to continue on with the series, especially since I grabbed the other two. Hope your week isn't too eventful and man, once you fall behind, it's hard to catch up. Trust me, I know!

  9. Happy Anniversary!! I am never caught up on comments so don't feel bad. I have things scheduled and have to continually bump them back so I can catch up because I feel bad if I don't get to them and I don't even have that many comments, lol. I'm a mess.

Happy Anniversary! Hope you enjoy the concert and time with your daughter too. Love all the new books you received this week too. Enjoy!

  11. Happy anniversary!!! Nice haul of books. Can you believe we've already HAD one Christmas get- together? We literally had to because it was the only time we could get together with that particular group before the actual holiday is over. It was nice though. šŸ™‚

Hope you have a great trip and happy reading!

  12. Congratulations on 20 years of marriage and I hope you will enjoy your daughter's concert! I hope preparing for all the Christmas celebrations goes well. I see you hauled in the Lunar Chronicles and I love that series <3 Happy reading x
