Stacking the Shelves #205

Posted January 26, 2020 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 38 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
This was a fairly average week.  I made it to the gym 4 days this week which seems to be the right frequency.  That gives me a couple of days to go straight home from work without feeling guilty.  I was even able to get my husband to go with me which I consider a big win.

We had some more winter weather.  On Thursday, my boss decided that we would start the day 2 1/2 hours later than usual.  The roads really weren’t bad but I didn’t question it.  I just read my book for an extra couple of hours and enjoyed the shorter workday.

Nothing really exciting happened which is exactly the way I like it.  How was your week?

Books Added
The Vanishing by Jayne Ann Krentz (won @ Waves of Fiction)
I was thrilled to win a copy of The Vanishing by Jayne Ann Krentz from Rachel @ Waves of Fiction.  If you haven’t had a chance to visit her blog, you should definitely check her out.  She writes great reviews and hosts plenty of awesome giveaways.
The Laughing Corpse by Laurell K. Hamilton (won @ Books of My Heart)
I was also lucky enough to win a copy of The Laughing Corpse by Laurell K. Hamilton from Anne @ Books of My Heart.  I try to stop by Books of My Heart on a daily basis.  Anne, Robin, Melanie, and KC all write wonderful reviews on a wide variety of books and host frequent giveaways.
What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Congrats on the books wins! I hope both are amazing. Look at you, going to gym four times in one week. You are awesome! I wish I had the motivation, because I really need to get into a routing. Maybe when there is daylight either when I leave for work or come home, because right now, it's dark when I leave and return.

    • I am trying to put myself on a schedule for going to the gym that allows for some off days. It will be much easier when it doesn't get dark so early since I still need to get the dogs walked every night.

  2. I was so grateful that the weather wasn't as bad as they were predicting. I wasn't going to enjoy my commute with more winter nastiness. I usually enjoy winter too, I just don't enjoy driving in its activeness! Lol.

Nice new reads! New to me ones, but I hope you love them!

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. Always great to go to the gym. What great books you grabbed up there. I have heard the Krentz book is fabulous. I love "Books of my heart" as well, such a wonderful group of women to know.

  4. That's neat that your boss is big on driving safety. I had a fall and broken tailbone a while back trying to get to work and it was because my employer insisted on staying open when pretty much the whole region was shut down for a weather emergency and almost all our type of agencies and schools were closed. Glad you got to curl up with your book.

Oh cool! Nice wins. I enjoy both those blogs, too.

    Have a great week, Carole!

  5. Congrats on the Jayne Ann Krentz win! I'm looking forward to picking that one up. Her books are always so entertaining. Also great job about the gym. The hotel we've been at the past few months has a really great gym right downstairs which I have used exactly zero times. I need to make more of an effort to at least get on the treadmill. We have been running on the beach so I guess that counts. Have a great week and enjoy your reads!

  6. Thanks for the vote of confidence. We try to do some fun things on the blog. It's amazing you are getting to the gym. If we ever finish the moving / house projects, we have a YMCA membership to use. A week without anything weird is awesome. I am trying to get everything wrapped up so we can start our buddy read next week!

  7. Congrats on your wins. I've been having tendon issues and after having PRP injections I'm slowly getting back into walking on the treadmill, pain free.

Enjoy your books and have a lovely week ahead.

  8. Congrats on hitting the gym so much. And that was awfully nice of your boss. Hope you have a great week!

  9. I'm in full prep mode this week in case we get a coronavirus outbreak in the UK. I'm on full scale alert! We restocked on food and water after the winter hibernation so I shouldn't need to shop again until after Easter!

  10. Congratulations on your giveaway wins! THE VANISHING is one I've had my eyes on ever since I heard about it. I hope you enjoy it.

  11. Hahah yes, don't question when you get some time off or late starts. Yay for getting to the gym 4 days a week and being able to even include your husband in a trip 😉
