Two weeks ago, I had my normal screening mammogram. No big deal, right? It became a big deal when I received a call the next workday that they saw something and I would need further tested. The worst part was that they couldn’t fit me in for two weeks at first. They eventually found an appointment a few days sooner so I ended up waiting about a week and a half.
I think that anyone in this situation would be nervous. My risk is highly elevated because my mother has had breast cancer a total of 3 times with the first occurrence when she was a year or two younger than I am right now. She has undergone two mastectomies and has been through 3 courses of chemotherapy and 1 course of radiation. I know that this doesn’t mean that I will get breast cancer and I have never really worried about it…until I got that phone call.
I spent the past two weeks all over the place. One moment I would think about what I would do if the result came back positive which I was certain it would at times. Other times, I was convinced that there was no way I could have cancer. I spent too much time on the internet looking at odds and statistics which was probably a very bad idea. I finally got in and got the tests done and got the result.
It wasn’t cancer and the doctor said that I had nothing to worry about. Woo hoo!
Obviously, this is great news. I know that a lot of people don’t get good news and my heart breaks for them. I have to admit that I am a bit upset that they made me wait so long to get the tests done because not knowing was very hard.
Other than the cancer scare, it was a pretty quiet two weeks. My daughter did come home from college for a day and we had a nice visit but that was about it.
I found the J.K Rowling and George R.R. Martin books at Half Price Books and I picked up the Stephen King omnibus at Barnes & Noble.
These two books were surprises from the publisher.
Engaged to the Earl by Lisa Berne (Publisher – Unsolicited)
His Secret Mistress by Cathy Maxwell (Publisher – Unsolicited)
The Glass Magician by Caroline Stevermer (Publisher)
Smoke Bitten by Patricia Briggs (Publisher)
The Boy from the Woods by Harlan Coben (Publisher)

Waiting to hear news back like that is truly nerve wrecking. My mum was in the same situation once and it was very very scary. So of course it makes sense to take a step back from everything for a while. I am so so glad that the call came back and you're all clear! Stay healthy <3
The wait is the worst. The panic and wondering just builds up. I am so happy the news was good for you, Carole. ((HUGS)) for all the stress.
Oh Carole, that was scary! I've been through the mammogram after being referred because of lumps (enlarged nodes or something) so I can understand your fear. At times like this family come way ahead of blog posts and visits so don't feel bad about some Me time! I'm so glad it was good news!
Oh my goodness, I can't imagine what the last two weeks have been like for you, Carole. The waiting and the worrying. Our minds often tend to jump to the worst case scenario (just human nature, I guess?) and dwell on that so I'm so glad that wasn't the case for you. Relief doesn't even begin to cover it. What amazing news you were gifted with this week!
Wow, that’s a nerve-wracking situation. My mom goes through the same thing every few years. I guess her body is weird and lumpy on the inside. She always has to get tests redone. I’m glad you’re okay!
Aj @ Read All The Things!
Omg, Carole! That's so scary. I am so glad you're okay! I can't imagine that stress that would've caused you. I mean to tell you on the phone they saw something "concerning" and say the soonest they could see you is in two weeks is freaking nuts! Just glad that the news was positive!
Nice new reads! I haven't found anything at our HPBs in what feels like years now. Lol. I go every once in awhile hoping to find a hidden treasure but I don't. I feel like I saw them all the time in the months that I was unemployed and couldn't allow myself to spend money so frivolously. I wish I would've bought what I saw wayyy back then anyway since my luck for finding treasures has dwindled.
Will you be going to the Tricia Levenseller signing this week? It's at the Kisker Library this time around.
Hope you enjoy the week ahead!
Here's my StS
Have a GREAT day!

Oh my, I remember when something similar happened to me. The wait is torture. I'm so happy you got great news!
I'm glad it's OK. Happy reading; so many great things for you to read
I'm so glad that everything is ok. I know that waiting is the worst.
I'm thrilled you are fine and sorry you had to wait. I also go Smoke Bitten. I am loving the reread. Every book is full of awesome. Here's to a quiet, normal week with plenty of reading. I'm excited to start the last one on Wednesday!

I am so happy to hear that you got good news darling!!! Its always good to have that especially when you have a scare like that. I can't wait to read Secret Mistress too—-I love Cathy Maxwell!! Hope you enjoy that one.
Oh I'm so glad you got a good result! That can be absolutely nerve wracking and terrifying I'm sure, and waiting is the worst. So glad you got good news…
Those are great pick ups from Half Price Books! And those Owlcrates always look fun. 🙂
I'm so glad everything went well for you! I totally understand needing to take time off to focus on other things. Enjoy your new reads. I've seen the February Owlcrate book and it's gorgeous!
I'm so glad you got good news but so sorry you had to wait all that time to get the follow up appointment. How stressful! And the internet is never a friend at times like those. Enjoy your new books and have a wonderful nonstressful week!
Oh, thank deity it wasn't cancer. The waiting is so nerve-wracking and I'm sorry you had to go through that. I'm glad the news was good. Enjoy your books and take some time for yourself.
What a trooper hanging tough for nearly two weeks. Glad you got good news. Woohoo, Smoke Bitten!
I'm so glad everything worked out. I had a feeling something was going on because you hadn't been blogging as regularly as you usually do. I think it's great you took some time to yourself. I had a similar incident a few years ago concerning a different cancer screening. It took the doctor 2 weeks to get me in and then I found out they had the results a week before they contacted me that all was fine. Needless to say a complaint was filed and I never went back to him. Sad that we pay so much for medical care and sometimes it's sub-par at best. Hope you get to enjoy your new books in peace now 🙂
Omg that would have been horrible. Poor you. Waiting is the worst, how can they be so evil
I'm so sorry you had to go through that! Thank goodness for good news.
Wow! I guess you did have a rollercoaster two weeks. I'm relieved to hear everything a-okay. ?✨
I finally sat down on Harry Potter Book Night and went through my illustrated Fantastic Beasts. The illustrations are Fabulous! ?
I hope you are having a great week. ?
