I live in St. Louis County which along with St. Louis City has a fair amount of Covid-19 cases. Restaurants and bars are now only allowed to serve food through delivery, carry out, or drive-thru. We have been issued a stay at home order for the next month but I am still not sure if I will have to go to work or not at this point. My daughter’s college has made the decision to finish the year online and we have to clean out her dorm room just as soon as the state of Illinois lifts their stay at home order.
My oldest daughter works as a waitress at two restaurants and has, in essence, lost her source of income at least for now. My younger daughter has been sick since she came home from college but seemed worse on Friday. I was able to talk her doctor into prescribing an antibiotic over the phone without seeing her. I am convinced that she has had a sinus infection and is already feeling better after a couple of doses of medication.
I didn’t get a lot of reading done. I worked my normal schedule and spent a lot of time in the evenings keeping tracking of world events. I did manage to do a little grocery shopping and was pleased to see a lot of things that I needed still on the shelves.
Stay safe out there! How was your week?
I hope it's just a sinus infection for your daughter and it certainly sounds like it. Every cough is worrying-I worry when my dad coughs and he looks sideways at me if I do it! It's making us paranoid! I'm sorry about your other daughter's employment situation. It's a worrying time for everyone isn't it. I hope you are able to stay home and be safe, and it's good that you've been able to get the supplies you need.
I have almost the same books as you. I work at home since tuesday because almost everything is closing in France. It's a bit complicated and many fon't listen. I hope it will be ok for you and it will be clearer too about what you can do.
Yeah we're in crazy times right now. I'm dreading work tomorrow just because we have so many people in the building and then the guys who go out to our customers eventually come back and bring in all the new germs. I feel bad for them too since they're going out to a lot of different places and interacting with a lot of people. We almost need everything to shut down for two weeks, grocery stores and everything. I mean the whole Stay at Home order doesn't make sense when they say it's okay to go out and get groceries and I get the need for medical places to be open obviously, but I feel like they need to schedule a more decent shutdown. Tell people this and let them do one more grocery run and then leave everything close for the two weeks to try to get things to settle.
Pretty sure that will never happen though.
Seems everyone got approved for Kim Harrison's new book this week! I was delighted when I got that email and plan to start it as soon as I finish my current read!
Hope your daughter feels better soon!
Here's my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I hope your daughter feels better soon! Grocery shopping was the only place I went last week. A lot of the shelves were empty, but I still got almost everything I needed. I hope you have a great week!

My heart goes out to all those in the hospitality sector. They are getting hit so hard. They are talking about giving everyone money, but I don't need anything. I am getting paid. Give it to all those, who can no longer work, because of mandated shut downs. I was able to use Tele-doc the last time I was sick. It let's you phone or face-time with a doctor, and he prescribed meds for me. It was great.
i have gotten to where i don't know what to say any more. 🙁

I hope it goes well for your daughter's school with online classes. We start that tomorrow but my daughter is a whiz at that stuff. When I went to the Aldi's I was able to get almost everything I wanted but Sam's and BJ's had some empty shelves. We have a lot of food and I've tried a few new recipes which worked well. I'm not usually anxious but things are kind of crazy. I think I might feel better after we've been home 2 weeks and are not sick, but then I don't want to go out.
You got all the books I want this week! So far I only have Dragon Unleashed. Stay healthy and enjoy those new reads!

It's a crazy time right now. I am sorry to hear about your oldest daughter losing her source of income. And your youngest daughter getting sic, but that's good the medication seems to be working. Glad to hear you managed to get most of your products bought when grocery shopping, here the panic buying is still going on, but I managed to get everything I needed in two trips, so that's not too bad. I hope you have a good week!
Things are really getting shaken up as we all scramble. Hope your youngest can shake the infection and your oldest can catch some hours some how. The restaurants around here are rotating wait staff in to help with carryout and delivery hours.
I got Dragon Unleashed, too. 🙂
Wishing you a good week, Carole!
Sinus infections are the worst. I hate getting those.
Everything's a little crazy right now, isn't it? I'm glad you and yours are safe and healthy and that your daughter is feeling better. At least all this staying at home gives us more time to read, right?
Glad to hear that the sinus infection is getting better with antibiotics. I am sorry to hear about your other daughter's employment situation. I have little faith in our federal government to act quickly enough, but am hopeful that state and local governments will get things done that need to be done while we wait for the federal branch to catch up. People need help NOW, needed help yesterday and last week. I also hope people begin to take the 'stay home' thing seriously. The longer people go out to bars and all kinds of places with large gatherings, the longer we will need to isolate ourselves. Stay safe and healthy, my friend!
It's so crazy everywhere, you stay safe! Glad it seems to just be a sinus infection for your daughter. Hope things go back to normal soon!
Have a good week and happy reading!

Glad your daughter was able to get the prescription over the phone! And glad it seems to be getting better. That's awful about your other daughters income but hopefully when this is all over everyone will be going out to eat! Have a great week!
i hope you are well! At this stage people look at you like you have the plague if you sneeze! scary
Glad to hear your daughter was able to get meds for her sinus infection. I think they'll be doing more video consulting in this time for drs appts. and that's as it should be right now. Hope your oldest finds another job, maybe grocery store or Target? I think they're slammed right now. I heard Target is upping their hourly wage by $2 for their employees. Take care and stay safe!
Glad the antibiotic is helping your daughter. I'm sorry about your other daughters job. The economy is sure going to take a huge hit that's for sure. Looks like you got some good books. I hope my boss lets us work from home soon. At least there's only 2 people in my office but my coworker, who is so worried about the situation she is hoarding food, refuses to stop hanging around all her social friends. People are driving me nuts and I TOTALLY get the isolation thing. Stay safe!
I hope it's just a sinus infection, even though those are awful too. Be safe and well.
The new Draven! I am jealous
And stay safe
*HUGS* I hope the sinus infection is just that, and it clears up soon. Those can be miserable. Like you, I tend to hermit when life gets stressful. It has pluses and minuses. Right now, it's a necessity. Sigh. Take care of yourself and your family, and enjoy your books.
Ah, I have seen a lot of my friends and more losing their jobs and source of income for the time being and that is so difficult and stressful. I hope you will all be safe and your older daughter will be able to manage okay until all of this blows over 🙁 I hope you will be able to go and get your daughter soon as well. As a parent it must be nice to have everyone together at home rather than spread out.
We are under a shelter-in-place order and we have an 8:00 pm curfew enforced by the police. My son works at a store which sells food and necessities, so he's still working and has to carry papers that he's allowed to be out past 8:00. It's so strange to think about. ?
Stay well and I hope you've been having a good week. ?
