I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.
My Life
How is everyone this week? I guess we are getting used to our new normal. I have always spent a lot of time at home but maybe not quite this much. My daughter started her online classes this week and since she is a music major, I was able to enjoy listening to her play her trombone. My husband is still working three mornings per week. I went into the office Monday and Tuesday this past week but worked from home for the rest of the week. It is hard to work at home though since I don’t have the same software or the database that I have at the office. There isn’t a lot of work actually coming in right now which does worry me. The county I live in has been under stay at home orders but the whole state (Missouri) goes under a stay at home order on Monday so we will see how much things change.
I did get some reading done which is good. We finished watching Tiger King which was like watching a train wreck that left me feeling bad for all of the animals. We have been taking frequent walks around the block which the dogs love. A lot of trees and flowers are blooming so I have enjoyed taking in some of the spring colors. On Saturday, we were able to have a quick window visit with my mother-in-law who lives in a care facility and then we dropped off a couple of items for my mother so she wouldn’t have to go to the store.
I hope everyone has been staying safe out there.

Sounds like a quiet but good week. Massachusetts has been in a stay at home status for several weeks now. I haven't gone out much but have had my windows open. I've been reading a lot and downloading way too many freebies and library books. 😀
Stay safe and have a good weekend!
It's like we live in a different world right now. So crazy.
I can't bring myself to watch Tiger King. It would upset me too much.
We haven't been walking as often as I would like. I really want to start though. But of course it's supposed to rain all this next week . . . Maybe a walk in the rain is in order then.
I hope you have a good week, Carole. Stay safe and well.
I didn't realize BOM gives you unreleased books. Look at that! I liked Beach Read. It felt more women's fiction to me, as the heroine was working through quite a few things, but the romance element was strong. Hope you enjoy it.
I'm glad you're able to continue working with a mix of at the office and at home. And that's great y'all were ale to do a little for both your moms. My mom is still going out too much but I've cautioned until I'm blue in the face so I don't know what else to say. I'm really interested in Beach Read. It sounds like a good one.
At least you can safely work from home in all this. I wish that was an option for me, but I don't even think my company has laptops to take home and work on stuff. Plus I still wouldn't have access to everything I needed to do. I just seriously wish this COVID19 horror was over already. I even fear what life will be like afterwards because I am pretty sure work will be crazy insane and unbearable…more so than it is now.
Nice new reads! I hope you enjoy them all!
Here's my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Walking the dog is the only time I get to leave the house. We’re supposed to wear masks when we go out, but I rarely see other walkers wearing them. I hope you have a good week!
Aj @ Read All The Things!
I'm glad you are balancing things and still getting to see people. It's a weird time. It's great you still have jobs too. I am looking forward to The Guest List but I want audio for it
Have a wonderful week! Be kind and take care of yourself!
Anne – Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post
I haven't been able to read fr the past few days. I hope this stay at home stuff is lifted and the coronavirus disappears soon.
It is interesting adjusting to things and I do alright and keep busy around the house and out on my walks. The weather has been nice enough to get the windows open. Glad you can enjoy your daughter being home and got in a visit with family.
Loved Giver of Stars. Have a good week, Carole!
I hope your daughters are transitioning well! I can imagine distance learning as a music major has to be challenging! I'm sorry the work at home transition isn't smooth for you but hopefully it isn't too difficult. We just got rid of Netflix right before all this happened (not great timing!) and are trying to resist resigning up. It's the only thing keeping me from watching Tiger King! Have a good week!
sounds like you are getting a routine down and doing well. glad to hear it. we are unhunkered down and making the best of a bad situation. take care and stay well
sherry @ fundinmental
I was a music major as well! I have taught and been a composer too. I'm glad to read that classes are proceeding.
No new books for me this week, though I do hope to keep working through my too large TBR list.
I did give up on The tiger king, but oh my! I did not know that that many big cats are held in the US. That is horrible
I don't think I could watch Tiger King without feeling horrible for the cats! I'm not even sure what the show is about but I hate watching anything with animals in captivity. I'd probably want to get stabby with the "King". Glad to hear you're able to work some of the time at home. I continue to go into the hospital waiting for the next change in how we do our work. Tensions are high and even though I'm not doing that many tests it feels like I'm doing a lot with all the sanitizing and suiting up. I'm praying for a speedy vaccine!
I'm sort of all over the place. Apocalypse books are great to prepare you for having a food store and pandemic supplies but NOTHING prepared me for this mental stress, the fear and anxiety, the lack of concentration. It's horrible! I seem to be buying lots of books but can't face reading them yet! I hope you, Mr Carole and your daughters stay safe.
Every day is something new huh? Who would have ever thought this would get to this point? Hope you all manage to stay safe and enjoy your time with each other. I think I'll be doing a hard pass on Tiger King!
Eleanor and I take lots of walks too when it is nice out. We walk all the way up to her school which is a round trip of almost four and a half miles. We walk through the center of town too, which is always fun, but we make sure to keep our distance. It amazes me that some people are still not even trying to do the six-feet thing.
I feel like everyone is really adjusting to the new normal and what it means living like this. I am glad that is going well for you, and I do hope more work rolls in soon!
I didn't realize I was this far behind in commenting! My apologies. ?
