Stacking the Shelves #232

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
I sold my house!  It is finally over!
This was such a stressful week.  Everything was going fine and we were looking forward to making the sale final on Friday when things went sideways on Wednesday.  I received notice around 8:00pm on Wednesday that in order to close on Friday, I would have to get 2 of my neighbors to sign a form in front of a notary.  Both homes in question are rental properties and I had no idea who even owned one of the homes.  I ended up pulling an all-nighter digging around online trying to find the owners and figure out how in the world I would make this happen.  I ended up passing everything over to my agent on Thursday and let her team work on getting things done.  All of this was over a few inches of land that seemed immaterial to me.  I still worried that something would happen until the sale of the home actually funded.
I can honestly say that I never want to do this again!  I am really looking forward to a nice, quiet, boring week.
What I’m Reading
I only finished one book this week but that is no surprise considering the week that I had.  I really enjoyed All About Us by Tom Ellen and plan to have my review posted sometime in the upcoming week.

I am still listening to Bitter Moon by Alexandra Sokoloff.  I also started reading A Stranger in Town by Kelley Armstrong.  I have only read the first chapter but I have really high hopes for it!

Books Added

The Year of the Witching by Alexis Henderson (Purchased)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. I am glad to hear you closed. It was quite a struggle, but now you can celebrate. So glad to hear you enjoyed All About Us. I didn't expect to love it as much as I did. My past experience with Ellen was his co-writes, and I didn't think he had that kind of story in him. It was really touching.

  2. So glad you got your house sold and that stress can just go away!!! Who would have thought it could be such a headache to sell a place and the stupid small things like a little batch of land could almost ruin things.
Glad you enjoyed the one book you got in this week!

Have a great week and happy reading!

  3. Well at least it's over! But wow, how stressful. I would never think you had to have paperwork regarding your renting neighbors. Seems weird, but I don't know real estate all that well! Lol. But the good thing is it's over! Congrats!!

Nice new read too! Seeing this one around a bit lately and am curious, but my plate is so full that I'm not adding books all too willy nilly just now. I hope you enjoy your new read!

    Here's my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. Oh, what a week you had! In fact, what a sale!! When I sold my house a few years ago, there were property boundary issues, too, and I was so happy to be rid of it all.

Enjoy your new home and the quiet of a stress free month.

Reading one book in spite of all that is really an amazing feat. Have a good day, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  5. You sure got the weirdest list of buyer issues. Hope it's over for good. 🙂 I just got picked for A Stranger in Town and I'm excited about that one.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  6. I am so glad you are done with the sale but a little worried because they live in the neighborhood. I am excited for A Stranger in Town but I am wanting the audio. Here's to the end of election ads, and our lives can really get back to more normal tasks.
