Stacking the Shelves #239

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
I cannot believe that we are days away from Christmas.  Of course, I am not ready since I seem to procrastinate every year.  If you celebrate Christmas, are you ready?
I had a rather uneventful week.  I did get a bit of a stomach bug on Tuesday and ended up taking a sick day on Wednesday because of it.  My youngest daughter finished her semester at college and came home Friday night to stay a few weeks.
On Saturday, we went to Ikea to try to pick up a few things and look for a couple of gifts.  We ended up buying way too much.  One of the things we bought were a few matching bookcases.  I plan to move some things around in my house and put these bookcases together side by side.  Hopefully, we can get them in place either today or later in the week.  We then went to a furniture store to try to find an office chair that extended to counter height for my husband.  I have been wanting to add a reading chair into the room that I am using for a library and I found one that I am really happy with.  Hopefully, I will have some photos to share next week.
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I finished The Particulars of Peter by Kelly Conaboy and thought it was a fun read for a dog-obsessed human like me šŸ™‚  I then finished listening to Follow Me by Kathleen Barber which I ended up enjoying a whole lot more than I had expected to.  I also read The Garden of Promises and Lies by Paula Brackston and thought it was an excellent addition to the series.

I am about halfway through Total Surrender by Rebecca Zanetti and am excited to be able to finish the series in 2020.  I hope to be able to finish The Lies You Told by Harriet Tyce sometime either today or tomorrow.  I am not too far into The Monster MASH by Angie Fox yet but I am enjoying what I have read.

Books Added

Hurricane Summer by Asha Bromfield (NetGalley)

Gathering Dark by Candice Fox (NetGalley)
The Most Beautiful Girl in Cuba by Chanel Cleeton (NetGalley)
The Newcomer by Mary Kay Andrews (NetGalley)
I also received a couple of packages in the mail late in the week which I will include in next week’s post.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

Yay! What fun to get new bookcases and anything else related to reading, even though we cry at the cost of it all a little later(lol) Looks like lots of great choices for books too. Hard to believe the year is almost over, but I'm reading for 2021! Hugs, RO

  2. Yeah, once we pass Halloween it always seems like time flies! I mean I love the buildup to Christmas and am kind of sad that's almost over. Especially since this year sucks and I'm not sure if I'll get to see my family on Christmas Eve like I usually do. I'm thinking, if I try going early, I can at least see my immediate relatives, even if it's for an hour before the house starts getting crowded with my cousin's friends.

Yay for new bookcases though!! I've scoped at a custom site myself for bookcases and noticed they had sales at particular times last year. I'm going to wait for the next one and ordered a new set for myself as well…hopefully all the foundation work my parents have happening will be mostly wrapped up by then and we can put our basement back together so there's room for them. If you ever need basement repair or foundation work, don't go with Woods Basement! They told us the work they would have to do would be 1 day…we're now not looking at completion until spring. They didn't have their plans worked out, literally, and it's become clear their office staff is not up to par. So yeah, would not recommend!

Nice new reads though! Lots of new to me ones here! I hope you enjoy them all!

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. I love getting new bookcases! I need another one, as my shelf is growing…but my space is tiny!

I enjoyed Follow Me and have a copy of The Lies You Told, which I hope to start soon.

Enjoy your week and the holidays…and who is ever ready for Christmas?

    Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  4. Too bad about the bug, but glad it was done with quickly. Fun to start getting new things for your home. I haven't been to IKEA for a while, but I never came out without more than I planned on. šŸ™‚
Glad your reading/listening was pretty good this week. That Chanel Cleeton book looks good.
Have a good Christmas week, Carole!

  5. I just love IKEA and I always buy way too much there. Their bookcases are my favorite to grab up. And hope you have a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones!!

  6. I'm glad you found some things which you like. Since I have switched to digital mostly, I have enough bookcases now but I have 19 already. And mostly they are BIG ones. I don't think we are ready for Christmas but we are not doing anything much. My daughter's classes have ended and I hope she will be rested up enough to decorate the tree soon. Have a lovely Christmas and be well!

  9. I've been in my bed for three days with a stomach virus so I share your misery! I'm a bit better today and hopefully I'm seeing the back of it. Hope you are feeling better!

  10. I'm so not ready but I think we will be okay! Sorry to hear about your stomach bug. One hit us a few weeks ago and it was absolutely no fun. Yay for finding a good reading chair! That can be hard to find. Hope you're having a great week.
