Stacking the Shelves #248

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
This week was cold.  Unbearably cold.  I am so over winter right now.  We have had some bad weather and snow showers daily this week.  On Tuesday, the roads were bad and my boss decided that we could just work from home so that was a nice surprise.  I was really glad that I could stay inside instead of making my way into the office.
The shed that we ordered in the first week of November was installed this week.  I was really surprised that they came out and did it with temperatures as low as they were and snow on the ground.  It turns out that I didn’t remember what color I picked for the shed or any of the details so it was a surprise to see it in place in our yard.
You may remember from my post last week that I was having back pain.  That gradually improved over the course of the week and is feeling better now but it really slowed me down this week.  Of course, now that my back is feeling better my feet are killing me.  Sometimes you just can’t win!
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I finished The Electric Kingdom by David Arnold early in the week and loved it!  I then put my headphones on at work Monday morning and listened to the end of Max Abaddon and the Will by Justin S. Leslie and thought it was a great start to the series.  During my surprise day at home on Tuesday, I picked up Werewolves of London by Angie Fox and thought it was a fitting ending to a fun trilogy.  I also finished Slapshot by Rebecca Jenshak and thought that it was a fantastic hockey romance.

I have been reading Blindsided by Victoria Denault this week and am loving the characters.  I am almost finished with Bound by Flames by Jeaniene Frost.  I have really enjoyed spending more time in this world and am having a lot of fun with this audiobook.

Books Added
Win by Harlan Coben (NetGalley)
This is one of my most anticipated books of the year so this approval was really exciting!
Slapshot by Rebecca Jenshak (Publicist)
I am loving these books set in Sarina Bowen’s World of True North!

  1. Glad the back is feeling better, and your shed is so pretty. Love the color! I can't wait for the Denault book to come out. I will probably buy it, if they don't get it on Hoopla. Combining Bowen's world with Denault's writing should be a total hit for me

  2. Yeah…I mean I do prefer this colder weather, but I'd be happier if we were above freezing temps and no snow/ice. Just nice cold weather because I will miss it come summer. Lol. The shed looks really nice! The blue is really pretty too!

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

  3. I so feel you on the cold! It's not been this cold in a long time and I wasn't prepared for it! We are bundled up as our fire just can't compete with a feels like temp of -17 to -25 and I am afraid to run the furnace to much as we are almost out of propane. ๐Ÿ™ I hate winter and I am so through with it. Weird thing is if we survive till Friday it's going to be in the 30's then after than we could get up to 50's! Weather is so weird.

    Glad you enjoyed your reads!!

  4. Yay for your shed being in now and for a stay at home day in the bad weather. We've had that stuff too and I hated driving when it was icy- snow not so bad.
Nice stack of books you got through this week and I'm glad you got picked for a big anticipated one.

    Happy Valentine's Day, Carole!

  5. yes I am glad for NC weather instead of MN now. I'm glad your back pain is better; I'm starting week 8 but it is going better, I just want normal. There's lots I want to do. I hope your feet feel better. You are really getting the house / yard in shape to have a relaxing summer. I have the flower beds in good shape but I'll have the garden and I need to work more on the grass and drainage issues this year. I can't wait to read about Win!!!

  6. Nice to know you back feels better. Surprising they pushed through with the installation despite the weather. I have zero clue how snows go (since we don't get them here in my place) but I've been seeing people talk about how terribly cold it is recently.
I've been seeing The Electric Kingdom and I'm quite curious since it sounds like my type of read but I just realized it's by David Arnold, the author of Mosquitoland (and I've been putting off reading it for some reason. haha). Also, I can't remember if I replied to your instagram post, but I absolutely love your shelf!!

  7. It's so strange that there's so much horrible weather happening all over the U.S. when we're having pretty much perfect weather here in the Phoenix area. Our high was 63 today – it was sunny and warm enough to wear a t-shirt but not too warm or too cold. Lovely. Stay safe in warm in that cold weather!
