Stacking the Shelves #249

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
I am so sick of winter!  It is finally warming up a bit but after 2 weeks of below-freezing temperatures and snow on the ground, I am done with winter.  Of course, I know that I really have nothing to complain about when you consider what the people in Texas are currently going through.  One positive thing about the winter weather is that I was sent home from work after 2 hours on Monday and was able to work from home on Tuesday.  Snow is not so bad if I don’t have to get out in it.
On Friday night, my 6-year-old niece and nephew had a sleepover at my house.  We played games, watched a movie, and played some video games on the Wii which was new to them.  We had fun but I astounded that people with small children are able to get anything done.
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I finished Blindsided by Victoria Denault early in the week and loved it!  I finished listening to Bound by Flames by Jeaniene Frost the same day and was pleased that it lived up to my expectations.  I spend my snow day on Tuesday reading Win by Harlan Coben every chance I could.  I finished up my buddy read with Anne @ Books of My Heart of Bloodline by Jess Lourey on Friday.

I have only read a couple of chapters of What Big Teeth by Rose Szabo and I am finding it promising.  I also just started reading Amelia Unabridged by Ashely Schumacher and can already tell that it is going to be quite the journey.  I only listened to just a bit of Friendship on Fire by Melissa Foster and am already looking forward to hearing more of this romance.

Books Added
Featherbed by Annabeth Albert (Publicist)
Technically, I received the email that I was approved to read this book and to look for it to be sent later today but I am counting that since I didn’t add any other books.

  1. Yes here it has been rain, rain and big puddles in the yard. But that is better than below zero and no power. It will actually be in the 60s mid week and I can't wait to grill out again. I can grill when it's cold but I'm not doing it in the rain. Thanks for reading with me. I hope this week is more normal and we enjoy some great reads!

Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post

  2. I laughed out loud when I saw that cover for Featherbed. I don't know what to make of it. I loved Amelia! I hope you enjoy it. I feel the same way about the snow. Working for home, it really didn't affect me much, but when I was traveling to work, the winter was endless stress for me.

  3. Hope you get a break from all the snow this week. Ugh. I was just reading Sarina's post about the whole World of True North spin-off's and was so surprised that there are going to be a total of 46 books!

  4. Kids have so much energy and they can just keep going all day. lol My grandson is 8 and loves to go for walks with me and Falcor. By the time I get back I'm ready for a nap but he wants to go again. lol

  5. Yeah this week is going to look positively balmy! 50s…actual 50s! I worked from home Monday and Tuesday myself. My streets suck getting in and out of during snowy weather. Apparently in my neighborhood every house has one person who is deemed driveway worthy, everyone else parks in the street which means the plows can't plow the street. At my house we all park in the driveway, usually lined up in order of who has to go to work first and occasionally a game of musical cars is played, but more so on weekends or last minute trip to the grocery store or something after we've lined up. Apparently no one else on the block thinks this is a worthy idea.

Nice new read! That's a new to me one but I hope you enjoy it!

  6. With small children, you just have to accept that everything will be a half-finished disaster. All the food I make ends up burnt because I’m distracted by the kid and not paying attention to it. I hope you have a great week!
