Stacking the Shelves #262

Posted May 23, 2021 by Carole in Stacking the Shelves / 20 Comments

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life

This was a pretty average week. I went to work, walked the dogs, tried to keep up with the house, made dinner nightly, tried to keep up with the blog and Instagram, and fit in a little reading. It’s a glamourous life.

It is starting to feel warmer and I am so ready to start using my pool. I put my suit on determined to do just that on Friday but I only got as far as dangling my feet into the pool. The water is still too cold for me!

We did decide to take a small trip this summer which is kind of exciting. My daughter was invited to participate in a trombone festival in Columbus, GA. She is willing to make the drive alone but I really don’t want to send my 20 year old daughter off on a 10 hour drive alone so we are all going to go. She’ll go to the festival and my husband and I will entertain ourselves with the attractions in the area (and maybe a bookstore or two)!

What I’m Reading

I finished 3 books and a short story this week and I really enjoyed all of them! One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston was absolutely fantastic! I then decided that I was in the mood for a cozy mystery so I decided to listen to The Skeleton in the Closet by Angie Fox and followed that up with a short story from the same series, Ghost of a Chance. I spent much of Saturday glued to my Kindle reading Kill All Your Darlings by David Bell.

I have read about 25% of Switch by A.S. King and it is a strange little book so far. I like weird books but I not sure about this one just yet. I started listening to The Last Train to Key West by Chanel Cleeton at work Friday and am really enjoying it.

  1. I found all King’s books to be weird, but then there’s this moment, where it all comes together and becomes brilliant. I have not read her upcoming release, but I hope it gets there for you. How fun! A family road trip. Can’t wait to hear all about it.

  2. You had a great week! I got a copy of Brat in my mailbox…a hardcover version to add to my physical bookshelf. I am loving that project of filling the shelves!

The Book of Accidents looks good. Enjoy your week, and here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  3. Oh I’m envious of your trip! I want to go somewhere myself as well. We’re currently debating about taking a trip at the end of June, I keep pushing for a yes and it seems like we’re tentative at a yes, so hopefully we’ll be able to go!

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy all of them!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  4. Congrats to your daughter, and it sounds like it will be a nice little getaway. I probably won’t have my pool open for another couple of weeks or so but I am soooo ready. It was really hot this weekend.

  5. An average week can be nice. The trip sounds like a fun one to anticipate. The Southern Ghost Hunter series are light and relaxing to me. I enjoyed the Chanel Cleeton. Cute instagram with dog and book in the yard. 🙂

    Have a good week, Carole!

  6. You’re getting warm weather soon while we’re almost done with them here. rainy days ahead of me in my place. Hope you get to dip into your pool soon! You had me at that cover of The Book of Accidents although I never really gave a second look at Chuck Wendig’s books ever. hahaha. Maybe I’ll finally get to try and read a big by him.

  7. Sounds like a great week to me! I am so bad at Instagram. I schedule all of these posts through the Later app because I’m hopeless and then when the reminders come up to push them out I push the dates out further because it’s such a bother. I wish I could be better about it.

  8. I wouldn’t want my 20 year old making that drive alone and Columbus can be a tricky town with Fort Benning being there. It isn’t always the safest. I hope the festival is lots of fun though I’m not sure what else there is to do there! Love the Instagram pic! You have a very good photo helper. Hope you’re having a great week!

  9. I think our pool would be too cold right now unless we heated it. I hate super cold water. Hope yours warms up for a nice swim soon! That sounds like a great trip. I hope you all have fun!

    Look at your cute photobomber!
