I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.
My Life
Things didn’t exactly go according to plan this week. I shared on my last Weekly Wrap Up that we were having to deal with a mouse problem. I thought that we had caught them all so imagine my surprise when I opened a cabinet in the kitchen to find evidence that they had been having a grand time in my kitchen. We had to pull the dishwasher out from under the countertop to find where they might be getting into the area. We trapped 2 more mice that night. I was more upset about those two than any of the ones the previous week because I thought that we had already caught them all. I was pretty down for a couple of days. I do think that we have finally caught them all because there have been no new signs. We have pretty much decided that we need to tear out the ceiling in our basement and replace it with a drop ceiling that we will be able to access when needed. That’s a big job and I am not sure I am ready for it.
Friday night we were hit by a pretty good hailstorm. We had golf ball-sized hail for about 10 minutes and it was pretty scary for a bit. We have 4 cars: 2 were in the garage, 1 is already covered with hail damage, and the car we bought for my daughter sustained some damage. We also noticed that the awning over our patio in the backyard is dented up. I might have to get the roof inspected as well.
I am trying really hard to get everything done and in order since we are leaving for vacation on Tuesday! I might try to get a couple of posts scheduled before we leave but I doubt that I will be around much (if at all) for the next week or so.
What I’m Reading
I finished two books this week. Sarina Bowen is always a winner for me and her upcoming book, Waylaid, was no exception. It has been years since I last read any of Kathy Reichs’s work but I really enjoyed The Bone Code.

I am still working on Capture the Crown by Jennifer Estep. I really like the book but I have been so tired at night that I just haven’t read a lot. I have just a couple of hours of City of Lies by Victoria Thompson left. It’s an okay book but I am happy that I finally got started with it so that I can scratch another older review book from my tbr.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
I’m so sorry to hear about the mice… My niece has RATS under her roof, so the whole roof had to come off… I can’t imagine the frustration!
I only had a mouse in my shed once and he ate the Bird food in the winter, probably because he was hungry.. As long as he stays in the shed it’s fine with me.
That had to be so frustrating, but I’m glad the mouse thing is finally over. I totally loved your Instagram of Kathy Reichs, and love her writing too! Hugs, RO
Ack. So sorry about all the problems you’ve had this week — especially the mice. Lordt. I don’t know what I will do if we have such a thing. Anyway, you deserve the holidays you have coming up. I hope you’ll enjoy your downtime with some books and cool drinks!
Have a great week, Carole.
Oh, so sorry about the mouse problem! I have had those issues in the past and they produce so much anxiety while waiting with bated breath for evidence of more when you hope you have them all!
Have a great week, and enjoy your books. Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES
Well Carole, this is a well earned vacation. I am sorry for this series of unfortunate events you have been experiencing, but I hope your vacation will give you the R&R you deserve.
Oh no, I hate when mice wreak havoc in the kitchen it’s such a mess to have to clean up after!!! Hope you get them little buggers! I really need to try that Kathy Reich series!!
UGH mice and the last place I want them is the kitchen. I’m not sure one can ever get them all but the ways they get inside can be plugged.
Have an amazing vacation and just relax!

Mice and hail! Sure you’re not going through the plagues of Egypt. LOL Bummer it has been a blue week with all that. Hopefully, it will all come together and look a little brighter after you get back from your vacation. Glad the thriller turned out to be a good one and yay for getting an oldie off the pile.
Have a good week, Carole!
Have fun on your vacation. Sounds like you need it.
Not in the kitchen!!!
My daughter’s apartment had a mouse invasion right after she moved in (her whole building did) and she about went nuts because every time she thought she thought had it dealt with another would show up. Luckily the management was really responsive but still. Sorry about the hail damage. It’s so terrifying! You’ve definitely earned your vacation! Have a calm and wonderful week!
Oh no, sorry to hear about more mouse sightings. I sure hope those were the last of them. I’m reading Waylaid right now and really enjoying it. It’s impossible not to love Rickie! 🙂
I’m so sorry about the mouse issue and hail damage. At least the hail damage isn’t as bad as it could’ve been. And good luck on that basement project. Sounds like a big one.
Hail is the worst, I’m sorry! I got the Capture the Crown audio and I’m excited!
Sorry to hear about the mice. Ick. My daughter brought back bed bugs once after staying in a hotel in D.C. and that was a NIGHTMARE to get rid of. Gross and expensive.
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed THE BONE CODE. I love Tempe Brennan!
