The acclaimed New York Times bestseller! Welcome, welcome to Caraval—Stephanie Garber’s sweeping tale of the unbreakable bond between two sisters. It’s the closest you'll ever find to magic in this world...
Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval, the far-away, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show, are over. But this year, Scarlett’s long-dreamt of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to the show. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season’s Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner.
Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But she nevertheless becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic with the other players in the game. And whether Caraval is real or not, she must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over, a dangerous domino effect of consequences is set off, and her sister disappears forever.
Welcome, welcome to Caraval . . . beware of getting swept too far away.
Why did I add Caraval to my bookshelf?
I feel a little guilty about the fact that I have not read this book yet. I was lucky enough to win a signed copy of this book from Jessica @ A GREAT Read and went on to buy the second and third books after they were released. I have heard great things about this series and I am convinced that I will enjoy it…I just need to make some time for it.
What are your thoughts? Have you read this book? Would you recommend it?
Oh I enjoyed this one!
I have seen it at the library, hmmm
I’ve heard good things about this one, too. I need to get back in the mood for YA fantasies and adventures.
It’s not letting me submit my link through the linky today so I’ll put it here: https://www.bloglovin.com/@sophiarose/books-from-backlog-172
I haven’t read this one but I remember it being *huge* when it first released! I’ve seen a lot of great reviews for the whole series. Hope you enjoy it!

Congrats on your win.
I actually loved this book. My daughter almost got trampled at BEA getting a copy, but it was worth it. I hope you get a chance to read it.
I remember when this came out and thought it sounded amazing! It’s on my library list but I’ve never read it either!
