I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

I guess that this was a pretty normal week. Even though we are now in fall, it felt like summer this week with temperatures hitting the 90s. Work was quiet at the start of the week while the owner was out of town. On Wednesday, I must have bumped a container holding around 7 fluorescent tube lights and they came crashing down. They fell between both cars that I had in the garage and basically exploded. Glass was everywhere, even inside my shoe. After letting my office know that I would be late, I got busy cleaning up glass and after 40 minutes, I could finally move one of my cars. That night my husband and I spent another hour cleaning up glass.

We are scheduled to get a new roof either at the end of October or the beginning of November. We will get our new siding once that is done. I am having the hardest time picking out colors! I will decide on something and then change my mind 15 minutes later. The front door that I just had installed is blue so it has to match that but I don’t know why it is this hard. I’ve been spending a lot of time that I should be reading or blogging looking at different color combinations on houses.

My college-age daughter came home for a visit this weekend. She mostly came to do some things with her friends but we got to see her too. On Saturday, I went with her to the bank, then to buy an alto trombone, then some shoe shopping, following by a stop at a local gluten-free bakery that I have wanted to try. We capped it off with a Costco trip and I have to say that I am officially tired.

I hope to be in the swing of things with blogging a little more next week than I have been lately.

What I’m Reading

I only finished 3 books again this week. I finished Small Favor by Jim Butcher at the beginning of the week and found it to be just as good the second time around. I spent my mornings this week reading The Origins of Iris by Beth Lewis and found it to be a really unique story. The Introvert’s Guide to Speed Dating by Emma Hart was a fun and rather tame romance which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I am almost halfway through I’m with the Banned by Marlene Perez and am finding it to be the fun YA vampire story that I had hoped for. I have made a small dent in America’s First Daughter by Stephanie Dray & Laura Kamoie but am really enjoying it so far. It is a rather long audiobook book so I may still be working on it next week.

Books Added

An Impossible Imposter by Deanna Raybourn (NetGalley); The Donut Trap by Julie Tieu (Libro.fm); The Untold Story by Genevieve Cogman (NetGalley)

  1. Oh, no! Nobody wants to start their morning with glass everywhere. I am glad you weren’t hurt, though. I enjoy Hart’s books. They always amuse me, and I liked the other two books in that series too.

  2. Oh wow. What a week! Bummer about the lightbulbs falling. Nothing is worse than trying to pick up shattered glass! Especially since it was near your cars! Sounds like busy times all around too. Hope things are calmer for you this week!

Nice new reads too! Quite a few new to me ones here but I hope you will thoroughly enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. Oh no… light bulb disaster. Glad you had a chance to catch your daughter when she was in town and get several errands run. Whew, tired just seeing where all you went. 🙂 Yay for three books read/listened to and glad you’re enjoying your current one.

    Have a great week, Carole!

  4. Oh that glass incident had me seriously sympathizing with you. I’ve had something like that happen and my first reaction was “We have to move because I can never get this cleaned up.” Glad you got it cleaned up! Your visit with your daughter sounds fun though I think I would definitely need a nap after. I hope you have a wonderful week and good luck with the siding choice!

  5. Oh no, what a way to start the day with the broken lights. I certainly hope the day improved from there! Sounds like Saturday was a busy day. Hopefully Sunday was much more relaxing.

  6. It will be nice when more of your house stuff is completed. I keep working through my updates and hoping to have a calmer period where I can relax a little. That’s not how life goes though.

They just built a Costco by us and I’m trying to decide if we want a membership. How are their GF selections?

    • You should be able to get into the store and walk around to check what they offer. We have two stores near our house and the selection does seem to vary from store to store a bit.

Our Costco does have quite a few things that we regularly buy. They have a gluten free cheese pizza that we add topping to before cooking, and a cauliflower pizza (I haven’t bought this because my husband is too picky), they have GF bread, crackers, and a few different microwave entrees. We bought frozen breaded fish this weekend which is good for a quick meal. It has definitely been worth it for us.

  7. I’m glad you were able to visit with your daughter a bit while she was in town!! Sorry to hear about all the lightbulbs and dealing with that clean up though. No fun!
