I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

It was rainy and kind of gross for much of the week. The week ended much cooler and I think that the rain might be over for a while. On Thursday, I had a lot of neck pain. It woke me up in the middle of the night and I had a hard time getting any rest and I was hurting for most of the day. I woke up Friday with a bit of stiffness but felt much better overall.

I took a vacation day on Friday for a doctor’s appointment and decided that I should take a trip to the local Half Price Books since I had some time alone. My husband will go with me but there is a limit as to how long he will wait while I try to look through all of the shelves. I love to read but I also love collecting books. I would love to have 1st edition hardcover copies of all of the books by my favorite authors but some of these older books are hard to find. I was thrilled to find a copy of books from the Dresden Files series along with some older Stephen King books. A couple of months ago, I ordered a bunch of books from Alex Kava’s website. There were some unexpected and unavoidable delays but my books finally showed up this week. I am thrilled to have these signed hardcovers on my shelf.

My mom’s birthday was Saturday, we ran a few errands then took her out for late lunch along with my oldest daughter and her boyfriend. After lunch, I helped my husband install a new light on my mother’s garage. Tomorrow we plan to head back to my mom’s to make a frame for her porch swing with my sister and her husband.

What I’m Reading

I only finished 3 books this week. I am surprised by just how much I enjoyed America’s First Daughter by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie. I really had a good time with Heard It in a Love Song by Tracey Garvis Graves. I decided to go ahead and read The Impossible Impostor by Deanna Raybourn even though it does publish until February. You guys, there were some things in this one that I did not see coming!

I had plans to read something completely different but somehow started reading Perfect on Paper by Sophie Gonzales and am currently about 60% into the book. I started listening to Bursting with Love by Melissa Foster and decided that I could actually speed up the audio just a bit which is unusual for me.

Books Added

Hideout by Louisa Luna (NetGalley); Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes (Publisher)

  1. Yeah for new books and happy birthday to mom! Lunch, lights, and a swing frame — fantastic! I liked Perfect on Paper a lot. I hope you do too.

  2. Glad to hear you got out to the bookstore! I haven’t stopped in Half Price Books in awhile. The last few times I stopped in I came out empty-handed. It’s definitely a hit or miss when I visit. But I still enjoy the trip anyway!

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  3. Yeah our weather this past week has been overcast and slightly rainy so it hasn’t been too fun for us either. I am so jealous you have a Half Price Books. I would love it if we had one of those here.

  4. We had a really wet week last week and felt like we lived in a Rainforest. LOL Yay for a bookstore visit to treat after the doctor visit. You are a great daughter and SIL to do those types of gifts for your mom. 🙂
Yay for three good books read. Can’t wait to get to the Veronica book.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  5. They recently closed and demolished my favorite Half Price Books in Houston, but I’m thankful there are still a few others on the outskirts of the city. Like you, I love to spend way too much time looking at every shelf as I build my collection.

  6. I loved Half Price books but we don’t have it here. It’s probably for the best as I am limiting what I get in physical books. What a fun week with books and family. I’m enjoying the cooler weather here.

  7. Love the picture of the The House Plant! Your plants look very happy. I’m so sorry to hear about your neck pain. That is the worst and so debilitating. Happy birthday to your mom and I hope your trip to Half Price Books went well! Have a great week!
