I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.
My Life
Happy Halloween!
This was a mostly quiet week. We had some rain which I could have done without, especially since my 3 dogs demand walks regardless of the weather. Yes, we took a walk in the rain and it was about as much fun as you would imagine. My neighbors must think that we are idiots and they might be right!
We also had to change the wax ring on one of our toilets. This is not a fun job in case you were wondering. My husband wanted me to help him line up the bolts as he set the toilet in place. Things were not going well and he started to sound frustrated which led to one of my dogs trying to climb on my back as I tried to help get things in place. My dog weighs almost 60 pounds so this was not the help that she intended it to be. After locking the dogs out of the room, things went much more smoothly.
Today we are driving to my youngest daughter’s college to see her trombone recital. It should be fun and I will be happy to see her but I am not all that eager to spend 5 hours in the car. On Monday, we are supposed to be getting our new roof so hopefully, the weather will cooperate and it will go on without any issues.
What I’m Reading
I only finished 3 books this week. I thought that The Donut Trap by Julie Tieu was a fun read. Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé was really good and dealt with some important issues. I was able to scratch an older title off of my NetGalley queue by listening to Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner and I ended up enjoying it quite a bit.
I am almost halfway through Crowfall by Ed McDonald. I really do love this world and am glad that I am finally taking the time to finish the trilogy.
Books Added
The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling; What Storm, What Thunder by Myriam J.A. Chancy; The Inheritance of Orquidea Divina by Zoraida Cordova
Fated Blades by Ilona Andrews (NetGalley)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
You had a week! I hope the recital was great (even if you had to drive 5 hours) I read Good in Bed a while back. I liked it enough to try more books by Weiner. Glad to hear you thought Donut was fun. I have that on my weekly TBR. I hope this week brings no home repairs or wet walks.
Yeah, housework like that tends to go easier without the four-legged help. I remember our beloved dog, who is no longer with us, would help by supervising. If we were doing something in the basement, he gave us our space but would loudly tell us what we were doing wrong! Lol.
Nice new reads! I want to give The Ex Hex a try at some point. I love Rachel Hawkins’ books so I think I might like this one of hers too! Happy Reading!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
It’s great you are getting the house things finished and cleaning up your older review books. Congrats on getting Fated Blades. I’m auto approved for that publisher but even though I was at my desk I missed the info on it being on Netgalley. That’s one problem with Feedly; you sometimes get stuff the next day.

Ooh, the toilet repairs would not be fun! I’ve never done that, since mostly there was someone else to step in. An apartment manager, for instance. I haven’t owned a house since 2007!
I love Jennifer Weiner’s books, and Good in Bed was one of the first of hers I read. In fact, I recently ordered a copy for my shelves, just in case I want to reread it.
I haven’t read Stephen King in ages, but my last one of his was 11/22/63. I really liked that one!
Enjoy your week, and here are my WEEKLY UPDATES
I helped Ken change a toilet and wax ring a few years ago. He worked apartment maintenance so he did those frequently.
A week for the dogs. We have neighbors that have to walk their dogs rain or shine so I guess you aren’t too nuts. 🙂 Nice stack you got read this week and yay for scoring Fated Blades.
Have a good week, Carole!
Crowfall! I hope he writes more
Oh, I hate changing the wax ring in toilets and had a bit of a chuckle imagining your dog trying to help out…lol. You got a lot read and enjoyed them all so that is great! Have a great week!
Oh that wax ring job is no fun and it does not sound like your dog was the help she intended though the story did make me laugh. We frequently have to push the cat out of the way when we are doing something as he is quite convinced he needs to be involved. We don’t really have a fencible yard so when we get a puppy I’m going to be doing lots of walk. I’m not looking forward to the rainy day ones! I hope you’re having a wonderful week!
Wow, you had a lot going on last week. Hope the weather is allowing the roof replacement to carry on without any delays. It’s been 15+ years since I read Weiner’s Good In Bed and I remember absolutely nothing about it. lol
