I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

This was another boring week in my world. I like boring so that works. We did paint the ceiling in our kitchen/dining area. It looks much better but it was a lot of work. We will tackle the walls probably next weekend. Is there anything worse than painting a kitchen? We spent the week trying to adjust to the time change. I actually like getting the light a bit earlier in the morning but it is strange just how early it gets dark now. We’ll have to bring flashlights with us to walk the dogs soon.

We have plans today to go to a winery with some of my husband’s family. I am hoping that it is inside because the temperatures have dropped to the 30s and 40s this weekend. We are already wearing winter coats to take the dogs on their walks. I don’t like it.

What I’m Reading

I finished 4 books again this week. I absolutely loved my re-read of Changes by Jim Butcher. I also enjoyed Fated Blades by Ilona Andrews and am honored that I was able to read an early copy of this book. Next up was an older book on my NetGalley shelf, Sweet Lamb of Heaven by Lydia Millet. I just finished reading How to Survive a Modern-Day Fairy Tale by Elle Cruz yesterday.

I featured The Rogue King by Abigail Owen on a Books from the Backlog post a couple of weeks ago and decided to start reading it this week. I listened to 40% of the audiobook and have now switched to reading the print copy that I have since that moves faster for me and I wasn’t thrilled by the narrators.

Books Added

Bone Deep: Untangling the Betsy Faria Murder Case by Charles Henry Bosworth & Joel Schwartz (NetGalley)

  1. The home repairs are never ending. I hope you get to a point soon where you can just sit back and enjoy your home. Have a great time at the winery. The cold front moved in by us yesterday. Stay warm!

    • A lot of the stuff we are doing to the house is to personalize it to our tastes. There will always be something that needs to be done though!

  2. I believe there is no task I dislike more than painting haha. We had to paint our fireplace when we moved in, and I’m pretty sure I spent more time complaining about it than it actually took to do it!

  3. I hope you get finished with the painting soon and can take a break. I have to wonder – what was already done when you moved to this house? I’m still hanging with the kitchen reno and they’ll be painting this week. I’m looking forward to some down time the next couple months other than lots of cleaning and organizing. Fated Blades was amazing!

Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post

    • We are doing the things that we want to personalize the house to our tastes. We did have to get a new roof but that is from the hail storm that occurred after we bought the house. We liked the layout of the house, the kitchen, the bathrooms, and the basement, but we did not like the textured cranberry-colored accent wall in the kitchen. My tastes are very different than the previous owner when it comes to wall color and things like that.

    • The ceiling was not any fun but I suspect that painting around the kitchen cabinets next weekend will be just as bad. I am really looking forward to Bone Deep since it is about a crime that happened in my area and it has been all over the news for years.

  4. I’m a fan of boring weeks, too. 🙂 We had great fall weather so I can’t complain. Loved Fated Blades. Looks like you had a nice stack finished this week.

  5. It is so weird how dark it is so early ….whereas a week ago we had so much more light. haha, It does take some time to adjust but then I also hate in mid-summer having the sun up so late too. I just want an in-between haha I know how house repairs can feel like never ending.

Hope you have a good week.

  6. I’ve watched a few things on the Betsy Faria case and it is crazy! I’ll have to look for the book. I’m a big fan of quiet weeks myself so I’m glad you had one! I hate painting ceilings! I’m not super fond of painting much of anything but ceilings are the worst. Have a great week!

  7. It is very strange how dark it gets at an earlier time. It definitely makes me want to just sleep. haha I didn’t do a ton of reading this past week, so I kind of feel behind. Need to up my game this week. 🙂
