My Life
This week has been defined by snow. I have always said that I don’t mind snow as long we get enough that I can just stay home and not have to get out in it. Well, it started with sleet/snow on Tuesday night and then moved to snow that didn’t end until Thursday. We measured 8 inches in my driveway (which is a lot to shovel). I was able to work from home Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday but I am really limited with what I can do from home I was mostly just checking my email and doing a few simple tasks as needed. The dogs were less impressed by the storm and couldn’t understand why we wouldn’t take them for their daily walks. I ended up playing with the dogs a lot more than usual just trying to burn off some of their energy.
By Friday afternoon, it was time to dig ourselves out from the storm. The snow was very heavy so I went out to help my husband clear the driveway. It didn’t take long to decide that we would only do the part of the driveway behind our Jeep and leave the side where the Mustang is parked alone. On Saturday, we met my brother-in-law at my Mom’s house to take care of her driveway. Her garage is behind her house so her driveway is rather long but with 3 adults working we got it done in a reasonable amount of time. I even got to play with my niece and nephew who are now 7. They thought it was fun to get me to do all kinds of things like the splits and different stretches. For the record, this overweight, out-of-shape old lady can still do the splits but failed miserably with a backbend.
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I only finished 3 books this week which is surprising since I spent the whole week at home. I finished Hunt the Stars by Jessie Mihalik early in the week and really enjoyed it. I then moved on to Owl and the City of Angels by Kristi Charish which is part of a fun series that could be described as urban fantasy meets Indiana Jones. Why have I sat on this series for so long?! I am thinking that I will have to go ahead and buy the next couple of books in the series just so I can find out what happens next. I also listened to Cold Days by Jim Butcher. This is the last re-read in this series for me and I will move on to books that will be new to me starting next month. Of course, I didn’t remember anything from this book so it was like reading it for the first time anyway.
I am about a third of the way through Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes and I am loving it! Who knew that I needed Science Fiction Horror in my life?! I am only 10% into Bone Deep by Charles Bosworth, Jr. and Joel L. Schwartz which is a true crime novel about a murder that occurred in my area which just seemed to get stranger and stranger as time went on. I have listened to just a bit of Perfect Gravity by Vivien Jackson and I am hopeful that I will like it just as much as I liked the first book in the series.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Snow removal is no joke. Glad you all did ok with it. That’s a lot of days of weather too. I can understand why the dogs were a bit stressed. (I would be too)
Yeah my stepdad was out there every few hours shoveling. I guess shoveling in intervals as the snow was coming down made it easier. I was working all day myself so I didn’t have time to take too many breaks to help with that kind of task! Lol. Luckily with our cars in the driveway we covered over half of it, so there wasn’t a whole lot that needed shoveling. Although we’re still waiting for our trash and recycle service to come by for pickup, I’m starting to think they aren’t coming at all, my mom is more hopeful. At this point I think they just said screw it! Lol.
Nice new reads! I read an ARC of Hunt the Stars and loved it! Hope you enjoy your new reads!!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I really love snow but we just don’t get it as much as we used to. But we did get some and I never mind it as its not too bad driving in. Winter can be so drag without snow, I do love how pretty everything looks.
got some great looking books. i has been chilly here, but i am glad i don’t have to deal with the snow any more. it is pretty to look at, but…

You’re getting some great books. I would have been listening to audio books while shoveling or walking the dogs or any chores. I’ve always wanted to read the Owl series by Kristi Charish. Scifi yes, horror probably not for me. Tammy is convincing me about Dead Silence though. I hope it warms up a bit and you get dug out for the upcoming week ahead.

We got some serious snow here as well! I added one new book and am currently reading two books on my new Tablet, my new book is A Lie for a Lie by Smile Richard!!
You have some tempting books. Enjoy them all!
Well aren’t you the cool aunt doing splits and playing like that. We have a long drive like your mom so I get quite the workout clearing the snow, too.
Glad you had a good week of reading. I definitely want to read that Jessie Mihalik book, too.
Have a good week, Carole!
My splits are pretty pathetic, but my daughter and I get a good laugh when I try. 🙂 You really did get a lot of snow, didn’t you? I don’t envy you having to shovel the driveway and walkways. I read Owl and the Japanese Circus a few years ago and really liked it. It’s yet another series I always meant to read more of and just haven’t managed it. I really want to read Dead Silence and am glad to hear you are enjoying it. I hope you continue to enjoy it. Have a great week, Carole!
I have never shoveled snow and that is a record I am trying to keep! It’s mostly because we don’t get snow much here and when we do the whole area basically shuts down until it’s gone. We did get snow a few weeks ago and had to go walk the dog in it. The dog thought it was fabulous – I was not a fan! The Owl series is on my TBR. It sounds like such a fun series. Have a wonderful week!
That is a lot of snow. The most we’ve had where I live is 3 inches at one time. Doesn’t happen very often though.
Good thing you were able to work at home with all that snow! Nice that you shoveled your mom’s driveway. I’m sure she appreciated it. That’s one way to get exercise in, lol! I can’t do the splits anymore. Not stretchy enough. I can do a cartwheel as long as I stretch before. I did one without stretching beforehand, about a year back, and pulled a muscle in the back of my leg that didn’t heal for a long time! Yep, not as limber as a kid anymore!
I want to read Hunt the Stars at some point.
