I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

This wasn’t a bad week but it has felt kind of strange. One of my daughters came home from her trip last week so we had her home all week. My oldest daughter ended up testing positive for Covid while on her trip to visit her boyfriend’s parents so she had to extend her trip until they were well again so they could fly home. She should finally be home as you read this.

I seem to be in a bit of a funk. I am not loving the books that I am reading and am having a really hard time making myself do all of the things that I normally do related to blogging. I apologize for not getting around to visit with everyone this week. I am reading only the bare minimum and am actually watching television which is odd for me. I decided to start watching Outlander again from the beginning. I do love this show but usually TV just isn’t my thing.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I am in a bit of a slump and only finished 2 audiobooks this week. I only had a bit of Walk Through Fire by Kristen Ashley to listen to so I finished it early in the week. I decided to switch to the audiobook for The Change by Kirsten Miller and I ended up liking this book but not nearly as much as others have.

I have only read 16% of For the Throne by Hannah Whitten. It’s good but not what I have been in the mood for. I am only on page 45 of December ’41 by William Martin and have found that there are a lot of characters to keep straight. Again, it’s good but not what I feel like reading. I have listened to more than half of Justice Ascending by Rebecca Zanetti and am enjoying it. I probably could have finished it but just wasn’t feeling like listening to an audiobook at work as much towards the end of the week. I decided to jump into Soul Taken by Patricia Briggs to help me get out of this reading funk I seem to be in. I have almost hit the 40% mark and am loving it.

  1. I hope your daughter’s bout of covid wasn’t too bad, but who needs that. Sorry to hear you are in a funk. I think you are doing the smart thing by letting your mood guide you. Forcing yourself to read a book you are not in the mood for is usually not good for the book. Hope you shake the funk soon.

  2. Oh I feel you about the reading slump. I feel like I’ve been in one all year because, well, life lol. I’ve read two books in the last week and it’s been amazing because I haven’t done that for ages.
Hope things start getting better soon and you’re back to your normal reading self.

  3. It’s hard when you can’t get into that book you’re reading when you initially thought you would. Hope you’re able to get out of your funk soon!

Nice new read! Hope you enjoy this one! I can’t believe this series is still going strong! That’s awesome!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. I’m so sorry Carole. It is frustrating. Normally I rotate genres so much I never slump. But when I was saving up my mystery books in advance of a RAT and also reading certain books for a catch up / finish the series, I felt a bit of wanting to read something else. My normal tbr is diverse enough I just love it. I hope your daughter is well after covid.

Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post

  5. I hate when I get in that mood. Hope it passes soon. Good news that your daughter is on her way home now.

Good thing Soul Taken has given you a book to pull you out of your mood.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  6. Oh no… I’m sorry to hear she tested positive. 🙁 I think pretty much a lot of people I speak to regularly have tested positive sometime in May. Hopefully the blogging funk will go away, but breaks are also important! Sometimes one needs a much needed break before coming back. I’ve been trying my best to stop slumps by noticing my usual signs ahead of time, but sometimes even that doesn’t work.

  7. So sorry to hear you’re in a bit of a funk but I can definitely relate. I frequently have them when the weather changes and just can’t settle on books. Luckily it hasn’t happened this year. I think cutting yourself some slack and watching Outlander sounds like a good plan! Have a wonderful week!

  8. I am sorry to hear that you are struggling so with reading, I hope that you are able to find a way to get back into it. I am sorry to hear that you were having issues with that KA, but hope you are able to get back to it.

  9. Sorry to hear you are in a funk. Hope you can find a way to shake it off soon.
I just finished watching the latest season of Outlander and was so disappointed.

  10. I’m sorry to read your daughter has had Covid. I hope she wasn’t to sick because of it?!
Reading slumps are definitely the worst. I hope it gets better for you soon. In the mean time.. I hope you’re enjoying Outlander. 😉
Have a great week and happy reading.

  11. Ah I hate those kinds of weeks Carole. I hope you get your mojo back. BTW I’ve got December ’41 waiting on my shelf

  12. It sometimes helps to go back to a read you really loved. Sometimes it helps to do just the things you love, which is now watching Outlander!

I felt like this all last year, lol…

  13. Sorry to hear you’re in something of a funk, Carole. Sounds like you just need to go with the flow and do what you want. And if it’s TV over books right now, so be it. I hope you feel better this week.
