I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

This week was busy at times and slow at others. Work was slow. So slow that I just couldn’t stand it and decided to take Friday off. I think that I have worked it out so that I can start working 4 days per week most weeks. My paychecks will be a little smaller but I will keep my vacation and insurance so it sounds good to me.

Outside of work, my week was busier than normal. We went to my Mom’s last Sunday and my daughter and her soon-to-be husband stopped by on Monday. Tuesday after work, I went to an event at my library with Deanna Raybourn. You guys, I was thrilled to get to hear her talk about writing Killers of a Certain Age. On Thursday after work, I met my daughter at the wedding venue to finalize plans and pay for the wedding. On Saturday, my sister went shopping with me and I bought a dress for the wedding that I feel more comfortable in, plus shoes, and everything else that I need. I may have also bought a 3-foot-tall Eiffel Tower and light up witch’s hat because I am who I am. Today, my daughter is supposed to come over so we can make the seating chart for the wedding. Less than 2 weeks to go now!

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I only finished 3 books this week. I feel like an underachiever since I have been knocking 5 per week lately. Early in the week, I finished A Death in Door County by Annelise Ryan and thought it was a fun start to a new series. I was less impressed by The Undoing by Shelly Laurenston. There were just too many characters to keep track of and way too much going on for my small brain. I then moved on to Dark Frost by Jennifer Estep which was an entertaining listen.

I am only reading one book right now. Love’s Sweet Revenge by Rosanne Bittner has been good so far but I seem to be moving through the book very slowly. I have been reading it for days and have just now hit the 40% mark.

Books Added

The Book Spy by Alan Hlad (Publisher); What Have We Done by Alex Finlay (Publisher); House of Hunger by Alexis Henderson (Publisher); Five Floors Up by Brian McDonald (Publisher)

Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood; How to Walk Away by Katherine Center; What You Wish For by Katherine Center

  1. Hooray for going to four day work weeks! Seems like the lead-up to the wedding is going at lightning speed. Glad you found a dress! Won’t be long until you’re sharing pictures from the big day. 🙂

  2. I’ve been only working 4 days for a while and am now back to working 3 days; Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and I love it so much. I will never go back to working 5 days.

I am babysitting sometimes on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, it does vary a lot so my weeks are very different and it’s the best feeling 🙂

  3. Oh wow! Less than two weeks! That’s got to be a bit nerve wracking, but the good kind! Lol. Hope all continues to go well on that front. And yay for the possible new work schedule. I find I’m enjoying my new one after two weeks! I spent the whole afternoon reading this past Friday and got a good chunk of my book done, but then yesterday was so hectic I didn’t get any reading done. So, typical weekend. Lol.

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you will enjoy them once you get to read them!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. Nice score on the dress. I am sure you will be a lovely mother of the bride. I would love a 4 day work week. That’s awesome that you could work that out. Did you already read those Center books? If not, you are in for a treat. They are wonderful!

  5. 4 days sounds pretty good! And good luck with all the planning. I like the look of What Have We Done. will have to take a clsoer peek.

The Raybourn book looks so fun!

  6. How exciting to meet Deanna Raybourn! I’ve read several of her Victoria Speedwell series and had just added her recent book to my TBR. Sounds like you have the wedding planning well in hand. My oldest son got married during covid with only immediate family in attendance. We got to have the big party celebrating the wedding (guess that would be the reception :)) last month. It’s work, but it’s fun.
And, by the way, there’s no way reading 3 books a week is under achieving! Just sayin’.

  7. I miss my four day work weeks, but I do enjoy getting out earlier than I had to when I worked the 4/10. If you can afford to work less and only four days say go for it! I am glad you found a wedding dress you are comfortable in. I am sure it is perfect. I hope the seating chart planning went well! Have a great week, Carole, and enjoy your reading!

  8. That’s awesome you can make a shorter work week work for the most part! Definitely sounds like you’ve been busy outside of that though, which is nice. This past weekend was probably my last slower weekend until the end of October. LOL It’s mostly fun things though, so it’s all good!

  9. Oh wow, two weeks until the wedding?! I remember it was a lot of work organizing my daughters. I bet you’ll be happy when it’s all done.

Yay for meeting Deanna Raybourn! I loved Killers of a Certain Age too. I’ve been averaging two books a week lately just because there’s been so much to handle with the new house and remodel. I hope to read more and catch up on my review books.

  10. How amazing to meet Deanna Raybourn! I think the taking every Friday off sounds great and will give you a bit more breathing time. I’m about to start Death in Door County and am so looking forward to it. I hope you are having a wonderful week!
