My Life

I can easily say this was a week I will never forget. A week full of many joyous moments but also some heartbreak. My husband and I worked Monday and Tuesday and took vacation the rest of the week to get all of the last-minute things in place for the wedding on Friday. On Wednesday, we found out that my mother-in-law took a turn for the worse and she entered hospice. We spent as much time as we could with her on Wednesday and Thursday and also fit in picking up tuxedos and the wedding rehearsal and dinner.

Friday was the big day. As soon as my younger daughter made it home from college in the morning, we headed to my mother’s house to meet with everyone for hair and makeup. My husband and my daughter’s boyfriend picked up flowers and gluten-free cupcakes for the guests that would need them. We got everyone dressed and met the photographer a few hours before the ceremony. Shortly after we started with photos, it decided to rain. Then we received word that my mother-in-law passed away approximately 2 hours before the wedding was scheduled to begin. We stopped for some tears and then focused on the joy of the day. The wedding went off without any problems and I think that everyone in attendance had a wonderful time.

The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday this week so I don’t know how much I will be around.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I haven’t read much at all during the past week. I finished reading House of Hunger by Alexis Henderson last Sunday and found it to be an excellent read.

I am still listening to The Witch with No Name by Kim Harrison. I have reached the 81% mark in the book so I should be able to finish it soon. I have read about 50 pages of Bad Girls Drink Blood by S.L. Choi and like it so far. I have barely started Such Sharp Teeth by Rachel Harrison but it seems to be off to a good start.

Books Added

Conquer the Kingdom by Jennifer Estep (Publisher); It Rides a Pale Horse by Andy Marino (Publisher); Con/Artist by Tony Tetro (Publisher)

  1. So sorry to hear of your mother-in-law’s passing. And on your daughter’s wedding day. Glad the wedding went smoothly though! Your daughter looks beautiful!

Nice new reads! I can’t wait for Jennifer’s book. I haven’t put a request in for it yet. I’ve really been enjoying reading my real books and having to return to the kindle doesn’t motivate me much! Lol. Even though I really want to read this one! Maybe I’ll request it later this year!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. You really packed it into this week. I know a little of this. My father had a heart attack the morning of the rehearsal dinner and wasn’t able to attend my wedding. I was uncertain if I should go on the honeymoon with him in the hospital. Anyway, I am glad you had a beautiful wedding. I’m sorry about your MIL.

  3. Oh wow.
So so sorry to hear about your mother in laws passing.
So many congratulations and best wishes to the happy couple and family. Everyone looks so happy and beautiful.

  4. That’s tough timing, and I am very sorry for your loss. At least you all were together. Carole! You have have me crying all over the place here. I cried when I saw the beautiful pictures of you and your daughter (CONGRATULATIONS!), and then you when you talked about your MIL, I cried more. ((HUGS))

  5. Your daughter looks absolutely beautiful. I love her dress and her hair but most importantly she looks so incredibly happy. I love your dress as well – such a gorgeous color blue! I’m so sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. I hope you are taking care of yourself this week. You’ve had quite a time of it.

  6. Oh gosh, what a whirlwind of a week and DAY!! I’m so sorry to hear about your mother-in-law.
It’s great your daughter’s wedding went well though.
Definitely a lot of emotions around.

  7. What a see-saw of emotions between wedding and MIL’s passing. Lovely pics. Looks like you got some good spooky reads going on, too.

Wishing you well this week and my sympathies, Carole!
