At the end of 2022, I finally tackled a trilogy that has been on my tbr since I first learned about the first book. This is a fantastic trilogy filled with great characters and a world that I will not soon forget. I fell in love with this wonderful fantasy world and would recommend it to others.

I received this book for free from the publisher. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

This was fantastic! I am more than a little mad at myself for waiting so long to read this book. I guess the good news is that I can start reading the next book right away instead of having to wait an entire year. I liked Sancia a lot. She has been through a lot and has found a life working as a thief. A good one at that. Her world is turned upside down when she steals an object and meets Clef. Clef is a sentient key and one of my favorite parts of this book. Who knew that I could fall in love with a key? Sancia and Clef soon team up with Gregor, Orso, and Berenice to get to the bottom of things. I listened to the audiobook and thought that Tara Sands did a great job with the story.

I received a digital review copy of this book from Crown Books and purchased a copy of the audiobook.

This was fantastic! This book picks up just a few years after the events of the first book. Sancia, Orso, Gregor, and Berenice are still working together and I thought that they made a great team. The story was incredibly exciting since it seemed that Sancia and the rest of the group faced one impossible situation after another. There were more than a few surprises that kept the story very interesting. I was really worried about how things would work out for our crew and had a really hard time setting the book aside. I listened to the audiobook and thought that Tara Sands did a wonderful job in bringing this story to life.

I enjoyed this book! It wasn’t my favorite from the trilogy but still a very solid book and a fitting end to the trilogy. This book picks up a few years after the events of the previous book and a few things have changed for our core group of characters. This book had a whole lot of action and excitement and there were times that I wondered if Sancia, Berenice, and Clef would ever catch a break. There are some surprising moments and we do learn more about the past. I love this world that Robert Jackson Bennet has created and found it fun to escape for a bit with this entertaining trilogy. I listened to the audiobook and thought that Tara Sands did a fantastic job with all of the character voices and added to my overall enjoyment of the story with her narration.

This sounds like a pretty solid, enjoyable trilogy even if the last one wasn’t as good as the first two.

    • It was kind of nice to work my way through the trilogy so quickly instead of reading them as they were released.

  2. This trilogy sounds so interesting here. I really love seeing it all here. Love the reviews for these here and glad they ended up being solid reads for you. The covers are so interesting.

  3. It seems like so often the end of a trilogy just isn’t as strong as the other books. This sounds really good and I really want to read more fantasy this year.

    • I have often found that to be true! All of the books were good though, the third one just wasn’t my favorite of the three.

  4. I came across this trilogy when I saw the publication of the third one recommended on a new release list. It sounded interesting. Now reading your reviews, I’m more inclined to look for it sooner rather than later. Good reviews!

    • The third one just came out in 2022 so it is a recent release. I hope that you do get a chance to read the trilogy!
