I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

Well, this week didn’t go as planned. Last weekend was so busy that I didn’t have time to really get anything done so I felt behind before the week even got started. I didn’t feel good all week with a lot of back pain, excessive skin sensitivity, and just feeling uncomfortable in my own skin. When I woke up Saturday morning, it was obvious that I had shingles. This was confirmed at urgent care and I am now on some medication that should help.

After making sure that I wouldn’t be contagious, I did go to a couple of local books stores to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day yesterday. I did have a nice time visiting the bookstores with my daughter and I bought more books than I should have. (I will share those photos in a later post)

I don’t think that I had it in me to visit a single blog last week and I am so sorry. Hopefully, I will be feeling more like myself soon and will have the energy to catch up with everyone. Thank you for sticking with me!

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I only finished 3 books this week. The Ferryman by Justin Cronin was a bit different than I thought it would be. I liked it but I didn’t love it. I was in the mood for something light so I decided to listen to Resurrection in Mudbug by Jana Deleon. I enjoyed the multiple points of view in Misfit by Elle Kennedy and can’t wait to listen to the next book.

I am still reading The Stolen Throne by Abigail Owen. I am really enjoying the book but am finding it hard to get comfortable enough to sit and read for any amount of time.

Books Added

The Weaver and the Witch Queen by Genevieve Gornichec (Publisher); The Bone Hacker by Kathy Reichs (Publisher); In the Blood by Charles Barber (Publisher)

The Blood Trials & The Blood Gift by N. E. Davenport (Publisher)

  1. Oh no! Hope you’re feeling better! I’ve always heard terrible things about shingles, so I hope you’re feeling a little better now. It was great seeing you Saturday!

Nice new reads! New to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  2. You poor dear! I have heard horror stories about shingles. Has me almost ready to get that shot. I hope you are feeling better.

  3. I’m so sorry to hear you have shingles. I hope it is better soon. I can’t believe April is over. It still feels like I have lots to do. You got some interesting titles there. I’m a regular reader of the Kathy Reich’s books but I usually get them at the library rather than reviewing them. The Witch and the Weaver is certainly getting publisher publicity – I’ve gotten lots of emails about it but I’m not sure about it.

Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post

  4. I’m so sorry to hear you have shingles! I’ve heard its incredibly painful. Get lots of rest and this is definitely a sign that you should buy all the book you want for a bit! Have a better and healing week.

  5. Oh ouch, you poor gal! I’m glad the meds are helping, but shingles are the worst. Nice that you got to go out for Indie bookstore day. My fav local place had a celebration, but I was helping with a bridal shower so my whole day was spent on that and I was too tired to go out in the evening. Look forward to seeing what book goodies you got.

Hopefully this week will be better, Carole!

  6. So sorry to hear you’re dealing with shingles! I’ve heard it’s awful! My husband and I got the vaccine, which is two doses and it was not fun at all, but all I heard about having shingles made it sound worth it. I hope you have a mild case and that it goes away quickly!

Nice that you felt okay enough to visit some independent bookstores. I only heard about it after the fact, but I do visit independent bookstores whenever I have a chance.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  7. Oh no! So sorry to hear about the shingles, Carole! I’ve been meaning to get my shingles vaccine(s) for ages now and this is a good reminder to get on that. I sure hope the meds are helping and that you’ve had some relief from the side effects.
