I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.
My Life
This was another week that was ruled by my bout with shingles. The rash is well on the mend but the nerve pain is still hanging around even though it is not as bad as it had been. I had a hard time even sitting on the couch after working all day. I spent a lot of my time in the evenings lying on my bed with my headphones on listening to books. I am getting better but it has been a slow process.
I am hopeful that I will be able to do a much better job of keeping up with things next week. We actually have tickets to fly to Detroit on Friday to visit with my aunt and uncle next weekend.
Happy Mother’s Day to all those celebrating today!
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I only finished 3 books this week. The Blood Trials by N.E. Davenport was incredibly entertaining and I look forward to picking up the second book in the duology soon. The Poisoner’s Ring by Kelley Armstrong was an excellent addition to the series. I found it impossible to stop listening to Hello Stranger by Katherine Center.

I have read about a third of Scarlet by Genevieve Cogman and am really enjoying it. I have listened to not quite half of Demons of Good and Evil by Kim Harrison and am having a great time with Rachel, Trent, Jenks, and the rest of the gang. I couldn’t resist starting Magic Claims by Ilona Andrews as soon as I had my hands on a copy. I haven’t read much but it is off to a great start.

Books Added

All the Dead Shall Weep by Charlaine Harris (Publisher); Magic Claims by Ilona Andrews (Publisher); The Bell in the Fog by Lev A.C. Rosen (Publisher)

Hidden Cargo by Robin Lloyd (Publisher); The Last Girls Standing by Jennifer Dugan (Publisher)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
I still haven’t gotten around to reading that series of Charlaine’s. I can’t remember if I bought the first book or not. I still hadn’t finished her Midnight Texas series either! I wish it was easier to read all the time and ignore real life problems and duties! Lol! Sorry to hear Shingles is still making you suffer. That does not sound like fun at all, so I wish you the speediest of recoveries!
Nice new reads! New to me ones but as I said, Charlaine’s series is one I would like to read hopefully at some point…but who knows! Lol! The rest are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!
Happy Mother’s Day!
Here’s my StS

Carole, I hope you are up to flying next week. Darn shingles!!! I love seeing that you enjoyed Center’s new book. It should be on deck soon for me, and I adore her books. They make me happy. I wish you a wonderful Mother’s Day and for some quick healing.
That must be so rough. I hope you continue to feel better quickly. The Genevieve Cogman looks good. I started her Library series a while ago…

I hope the shingles starts to get better. Hang in there it will eventually go away.
Nerve pain is so mentally and physically draining and I’m so glad you are getting rest with your audiobook listening. Definitely sounds like the best thing you could do. I hope you continue to improve and are able to enjoy your trip. Have a great week!
Glad to hear you’re getting a little better! Hope the nerve pain goes away soon!

Sending healing thoughts your way, Carole. I am sorry to hear how much discomfort you’ve been in because of the Shingles. I hope this week has been better for you and you were able to go to Detroit as planned! I feel like I say this every week, but you really do read the best sounding books! I am excited about Scarlet and am glad to hear you are enjoying it. I hope you had a great week and enjoy your weekend!
Oh, no, hope the shingles leave quickly. I know how you feel. Had mine not too long ago. Magic Claims is definitely not something that can wait, I agree. Glad you liked it.
