I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

This week felt kind of busy. Last Sunday, we went to a family reunion where I saw family that I haven’t seen in person for a very long time. I offered to pick my aunt and mom up so we could drive them to the event. At the end of the day, we had spent close to 4 hours in the car and I was exhausted.

We had some storms again this week. Two of my dogs are very scared of storms so that made for an interesting evening. When I got to work the day after the storm, I noticed that my work computer wouldn’t work at all. I spent the day crawling around on the floor under my desk getting a new computer set up. Unfortunately, we have no way of transferring the software that I need to the new computer which means we are going to have to get new accounting software which I am not looking forward to.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I read 4 books this week. The Block Party by Jamie Day proved to be a fun thriller that kept me guessing. I have been wanting to read Simply Lies by David Baldacci for a couple of months and am glad that I finally got around to it because I really enjoyed it. I was eager to listen to the next book in the Charley Davidson series and Eight Grave After Dark by Darynda Jones did not disappoint. I decided to go back to the beginning of The Carnivale of Curiosities by Amiee Gibbs and listened while following along in the book and found this to be a really unique and interesting tale.

I have been reading a chapter of The Valkyrie’s Shadow by Tiana Warner before falling asleep at night. It is really good so far but I am just getting started with this one. I have listened to about a third of The Weaver in the Witch Queen by Genevieve Gornichec and am really enjoying it.

Books Added

Out of Nowhere by Sandra Brown (Publisher); The Fake Mate by Lana Ferguson (Publisher); The Second Chance Store by Lauren Bravo (Publisher)

  1. Thankfully we did better with this second round of storms! Our power apparently flickered once during the night, but I was sleeping and didn’t see it happen. I woke up once to the storm but saw the power was still on and fell back asleep! Lol. That’s a bummer about your work computer. Wonder if the storm fried it somehow? I found it odd when my Fire stick seemed to die with the first one. I mean it worked perfectly fine before and then suddenly it stopped. I mean, true, Bezos is just making crap and charging whatever he wants for it, but the timing was just odd. Lol.

Nice new reads! Those are all new to me ones but I hope you will enjoy each and every one of them!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • It was definitely the storm that killed the computer. There must have been a power surge before the power went out.

  2. Apollo isn’t much scared of storms. I’ve had several who were and it’s so heartbreaking to try to comfort them when they are going on. That stinks about the computer. I was able bro read quite a bit this week even though I started back to work. Hope you have a great week.

  3. What a pain needing to set up a new computer and find a way to recover the old files. Poor puppies! One of my cats is nervy around storms, too. I picked up the Fake Mates and hope its good.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  4. EEK! That sounds like a lot of new stuff to deal with at work. Curse you, storms! It won’t stop raining in NJ, but I guess it’s good to get some precipitation since the winter was so dry. We can just do without the flash flooding , you know? That’s a lot of car time. I hope a good time was had by all.

  5. Computer problems can be so frustrating. I hate whenever I have any sort of technology problems and have to change anything, I don’t like change.

  6. yes we have had lots of storms too. I am interested in what accounting software you used and what do you think you will get? I spent years doing installs and training on computerized accounting systems. How do you do backups? I hope the new software will be better once you do the work of getting it set up.

    • We currently use Quickbooks Desktop which is what I would buy if the decision was mine. The owner is leaning towards transferring everything to Quickbooks Online and I am not happy about it. Sales orders don’t exist in the online software which would be a deal breaker in my opinion. All of the software is a monthly fee now which is no ideal.

  7. That’s nice about the family reunion! Always good to see people you haven’t for a while.

    Carnivale sounds pretty good.

  8. Four hours in a car isn’t fun unless you’re listening to a good audiobook. I’m guessing you couldn’t do that with your mom and aunt. Bummer about the computer. I hate computer issues!

I requested that Sandra Brown weeks ago and never heard back from them. Just discovered that you can withdraw your request from Netgalley and so I did that. Maybe I’ll listen to a library audio when it comes out and then I won’t have to write a review. Hope you enjoy it, Carole.

    • I requested the Sandra Brown book as soon as it appeared on NetGalley. I was actually considering withdrawing my request because it is now so close to publication and they approved me before I could get to it. I hope that it is a good one.

  9. Glad you enjoyed the family reunion but it definitely sounds exhausting! We’ve had a pass from the storms this week which my cat appreciates but it’s been rainy and gray and humid. So sorry about your work computer. That’s such a pain! Have a great week!
