I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.

My Life

Last Sunday, I didn’t have to work at the bookstore so we had a small family gathering at my mom’s house. It was nice to see my mom, my oldest daughter & her husband, and my sister and her family. That was the extent of our fun activities.

I, of course, spent the rest of my week working. I did have Monday off from my full-time job which made the week feel a bit lighter. I worked Monday, Thursday, and Saturday at the bookstore. I have to admit that I am basically exhausted as I write this after working an 8-hour shift on my feet at the bookstore followed by a 1-mile dog walk as soon as I got home. I am going to do my best to get around and say hi to everyone but I may need some time to just relax first.

How was your week?

What I’m Reading

I read 5 books this week. I started the week with All the Dead Shall Weep by Charlaine Harris which I thought was a great addition to the series. Wild Spaces by S.L. Coney was an imaginative story filled with great characters. I liked Rook by William Ritter quite a bit but wished that I had read the original Jackaby series first. I was kind of surprised by the fact that Hemlock Island by Kelley Armstrong was horror but I loved it. I found myself almost obsessed with Fall of Ruin and Wrath by Jennifer Armstrong and cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series!

I am currently reading Loyalty in Death by J.D. Robb and it is just as good as the previous books in the series have been.

Books Added

The Fury by Alex Michaelides (Publisher); A Pretty Implausible Premise by Karen Rivers (Publisher); Starter Villain by John Scalzi (Publisher)

  1. I’ve always loved the idea of working in a bookstore, but somehow doing that and working full time does just exhaust me! I commend your abilities to manage both! Lol. One of these days I need to head out to your store for a visit! 😉

Nice new reads! These are some new to me ones but I hope you enjoy each and every one of them!

    Here’s my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  2. It’s surprising you can get so many books read. I’m glad you got in some family time. All the In Death books are good. I put everything down and devour one when it comes my turn at the library hold. Remember to take care of yourself!

  3. I am glad you were able to fit in some family time with your hectic work schedules. I am glad to hear you enjoyed All the Dead Shall Weep. I look forward to getting back to that series at some point. I love the cover of Starter Villain by Scalzi. I hope to read that one as well. I hope you have a great week, Carole, and are able to get a little rest.

  4. So many great books. I haven’t read any of these. I have to find a way to read faster.. there are just too many books to read.

  5. I’m so glad you could have a day off to spend with your family! You’ve been burning the candle at both ends the last few weeks, so I’m sure relief was much needed. Just reading about your busy work schedule has me exhausted!

I’m going into my own busy season at work, so I’m enjoying every bit of rest that I can while I can. I’m looking forward to reading Hemlock Island. So many people have really enjoyed it.

  6. I hope you can hold up with your two jobs. You’re the best dog mom to go on a good long walk after working all day. 🙂 Nicely done with your stack of books read. I need to start that Charlaine Harris series at some point.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  7. So glad you were able to get some family time and some relaxing time in. Even though one job involves books that’s still a busy schedule! I hope you have a great week!

  8. I’m reading and loving Hemlock Island, but I’m not surprised since Kelley Armstrong is a wonderful writer. Nice that you got some time with your family as a reprieve from work. I hope you get some rest!
