I am really excited to participate in The Sunday Post hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer and Stacking the Shelves hosted by Reading Reality.
My Life
This was a pretty normal week. I spent most of the week alone in the office at my full-time job. I didn’t even see a co-worker for 2 days. It is kind of depressing to sit alone in a windowless room all day when you think about it. What I wouldn’t give for a window! Some storm blew through our area on Thursday. We missed the damage that happened not too far away. I am so glad that I didn’t have to work at the bookstore that night since that is closer to the area that received a lot of hail. 2 of my 3 vehicles were tucked nicely in the garage. I did have to delay dropping off our Jeep for service until after the storms were past us but that is really a small thing.
On Friday night, we actually left the house to do something fun. Hard to believe, isn’t it? My best friend celebrated her 50th birthday. We have been friends since were kids in middle school but haven’t seen each other much in more recent years because life has pulled us in different directions. I knew that I would know anyone there besides my friend but we did talk with a few people and had a couple of drinks.
I am trying to get back in the swing of things and posted on the blog and Instagram. I didn’t comment as much as I had hoped for but it is impossible to do any of that on the days that I work both jobs. I have a feeling that I am being a bit too hard on myself. I will keep doing what I can when I can. I started a puzzle and am making slow progress. I only get about 15 – 20 minutes per day to work on it but I do enjoy it. I might carve out some extra time today to finish it up.
How was your week?
What I’m Reading
I only finished 2 books this week. I have been so distracted lately! I went back to the beginning of The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden and loved the story. Katherine Arden is such a gifted storyteller. I wanted something lighter so I picked up Happily Never After by Lynn Painter and had such a good time with the story. How is this the first time that I have read this author? I need more of her books in my life.
I did read just a bit of The Night Ends with Fire by K.X. Song and am still enjoying it. I just haven’t felt like reading much lately. I am about halfway through Darling Girls by Sally Hepworth and can’t wait to see where the story goes next.
Books Added
The Return of Ellie Black by Emiko Jean (Publisher); The Fellowship of Puzzle Makers by Samuel Burr (Publisher); A Good Bad Boy by Margaret Wappler (Publisher)
So Thirsty by Rachel Harrison (Publisher); Sweet Nightmare by Tracy Wolff (Publisher); Did I Ever Tell You by Genevieve Kingston (Publisher)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
I agree, you are being hard on yourself, Carole. You are doing the best you can with so much on your plate. Glad to hear you went out and did something fun. You deserve it! That was your first Painter book? Her books are fun. I have them them all, but especially adore her first YA book – Better Than the Movies. I hope the week goes well for you.
I don’t know how you manage what you do with the two jobs, Carole. I think I’d be exhausted 24/7. Glad you got some good reading in, though. And had a night out. I haven’t seen the Luke Perry book. I’ll be interested to see what you think of it.
Glad to hear you didn’t get too much storm damage either. Luckily our cars were in a garage as well and were safe from the hail. We had quite a bit of hail but it was more pea sized than the big scary gold ball/softball pieces I saw on the news! Glad you had a nice night out too! Those are needed every now and then!
Nice new reads! I really want to read Tracy Wolff’s new book, but I can’t decide if I want to read it enough early on my kindle! I’ve a love/hate relationship with that thing! Lol. I’m still debating about it now. Hope you enjoy all the awesome new reads!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Thank you for putting the Luke Perry book on my radar. I had no idea it even existed!
I’m glad you were able to get out and enjoy yourself this week. 🙂 And glad you were able to avoid the hail!
I’m glad to hear you went and had some fun.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day.
You are being too hard on yourself. I LOVE Lynn Painter’s books. I’m glad you got out a bit to do something other than work. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

I’m glad you got to see your bestie for her birthday and get a quieter week. Yeah, you had some bad storms nearby.
Have a good week, Carole!
Yea for getting out and doing something fun. You deserve it with all of the hard work you put in. I hope your week ahead is a good one.
Glad you didn’t get any real damage and yea, a window in your office would be nice I am sure. I love the cover of the new Rachel Harrison book. Hope you have a wonderful week.
I am always behind on comments these days. With my blogging mojo being down, with work, a pre-schooler and school for me. I hear ya
I’ve worked in offices with no windows and it’s always a bit disconcerting to walk outside again – especially if the weather’s changed! The training room where I teach doesn’t have any windows but you can look down the hall into a room that does so that helps a bit. All of your books look really good! I’ve read one book by Katherine Arden and really loved it. I hope you’ve had a great week!
